Nice one. Didn’t even think so myself, but I tend to be pessimistic when it comes to Ruud. Not that Rune played his best tennis tonight and that surely helped Ruud, but still a great performance by my boy. Shame that this smells like another final loss. Especially as it will be against Djoko or Alcaraz. Ruud just doesn’t have that dog in him.

Feel for Alcaraz. Just a big learning process, pretty sure every tennis player goes through this feeling. Cramping due to nervous energy and the anxiety of playing a match with this magnitude. He will learn how to deal with this in the future for sure. Then we should be scared🫣

Alcaraz is great but I think he's near the top of where his level will be.

36 year old Djokovic dealing with him both physically and in play (before the injury) has got to be traumatizing for him

According to his coach he's at 60% of his potential. Kid is 19, think he can still improve although maybe not that much imo.

He's 20, and his coach is supposed to hype him up.
The area where he will struggle (compared to GOAT tiers) is mental strength. To me, he was kind of in overdrive first two sets.
The only GOAT tier with suspect mental strength is Federer and he was still GOAT tier because his natural ability was off the charts great. Djokovic, Nadal, Laver, Sampras etc. were all mental monsters.
I'm thinking he is a Becker/Andy Murray(prime)/Edberg/Wilander tier player.

Alcaraz still has the potential for substantial growth. Would be very disappointed if this is close to his top level.

Anyways, he'll get plenty of opportunities to win slams after Novak retires or declines.

36 isn't that old if you're healhy

Look at Garp in one piece (Djokovic) old yes but barely any physical decline

Whereas Whitebeard (Nadal) isn't healthy and it's taken a toll rather than it just being old age.

Being fully fit and injury free is much more important than what your age is.
