Yeah that's just them being knee-jerk like they always are. Quite a few sensible ones telling you he'd never have fit in to their system anyway, and they never deployed him right.

Like I say, he's the difference between 16th and 11th at best. Their problems run infinitely deeper than selling McTominay ffs.

You love him because he's a moment stats players, you love all those players.

Like this guy, like he implies football fans have the memory of a goldfish.

'
It’s almost like people don’t remember how terrible he was for us and how many games he went missing in for years and years.
He is 28 lads and has found a league he can thrive in. Good for him, but no one should be regretting letting him go'

Also, he's obviously good enough to start for United - their team is wank. The point is he doesn't improve them much and certainly wouldn't help them get anywhere near top 6.

McTominay could be a very useful player for United if they knew how to use him properly, but they don't.

Surely wouldn't bring them back to the top, he's not some extraordinarily talented footballer but would be a standout in that team.

He was smart to leave because it's a toxic environment with no vision, mostly shit footballers led by a clueless management.

Nobody is denying any of that.

The point is that he - nor many players - is nowhere near good enough to transform them on their own.

He'd help a bit but if United ever wanna be a top PL team again they need better than him. I know that sounds mad when he's just won Serie A, but it's different league and different needs.

He's found an environment he can do well in. Conte is playing him to his strengths and he's doing well. But he's still a one dimensional player and it's Conte's system that's highlighting his strengths and concealing his flaws.

Unironically Man United is going back to it's original state before SAF and SMB.

They were woeful in between too - even got relegated 6 years after winning the European Cup and in the 80s were mostly a cup team, like they are now. Ferguson struggled for years too and could easily have been sacked too had things turned out slightly differently.

fair play to Busby for rebuilding after Munich and winning the EC 10 years later though. But they have always been a club who had two good periods predicated on top managers, and that's it.
