Mathieu?Get real. He's not used to this level and it showed both against PSG and against Madrid. And it will show again the next big game we play. He is decent, not anywhere near of being the best defender we have.
Don't think it's fair to compare a centre back with a left back.
I seem to remember many people wanting him to play LB against Madrid. I said it was a horrific idea and... well... it was a horrific idea. He has slow reflexes and while he is a good header, his slow reflexes will cost us in big games, when the other team has a Cavani, Ibra, Lewndowski type of player, who's as strong and much better in terms of quickness. I don't quite understand on what basis has he become our best player in defence? By what measurement? He can head the ball better, but that's pretty much it as far as a comparison with Mascherano is concerned.
Assuming both on great form, Busquets.
But if not, then the one in form should play.
This. Knowing that Busquets hasn't been truly world class for a very long time, I'd choose Mascherano but if we can play both (for exemple in away C1 matches), then it would be the best deal .
