Best finisher I have ever in the 33 years I have watched football. Very lazy and non-existant in terms of work rate but supremely clinical when it came down to quarter chances or half chances. I cant ever remember him missing an easy chance. The supreme goal poacher. In the short time he and Ronaldo played for Brazil they were brilliant. Hiddink also said Romario was great and would be his first choice striker. Loved to party and hated Cruyff and his discipline.

I agree. Best finisher I ever saw, as well.

And sadly he was not the only one.

Maradona, Romario, Ronaldo .. it's such a shame that players like these spend such a short time in our club.

Yeah... true! Well, it's a mystery that we "pursue", throughout our history ...

Romario has a new job - congressman. He was elected to the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies in Rio on the centre-left Socialist Party ticket, allied with the Lula government (and presumably the Rousseff administration when she's elected)

Romario tells Brazil legend Pele to shut up!

Former PSV and Barcelona striker Romario has lashed out at Brazil legend Pele, telling the 71-year-old to stop making comments about him.

Romario, who serves as a deputy in the national parliament, has vowed to bring Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) president Ricardo Teixeira to justice if the corruption allegations on the 64-year-old are confirmed.

Earlier in the week, Pele played down Romario's resolve and said that the 45-year-old was accusing Teixeira as a way to get back at the CBF for being left out of Brazil's squad for the 1998 World Cup.

Romario, who has always failed to see eye-to-eye with Pele, stressed he is not looking for revenge and said that 'The King' was clueless when he made those comments.

"I had promised never to talk about Pele again, because he talks so much shit," Romario told reporters. "Pele should run for the parliament, he does not know any rules, any statutes, anything at all... He must shut up.

"I am 45 years old, I know many things. This thing about sorrow is stupid. What I say about Ricardo Teixeira is about what I see.

"I do not get anything from CBF. Maybe Pele does, perhaps that is why he is making those comments."
