While Zubi did some good things towards the end of his tenure, he mostly fucked up so much that we're trying to get rid of the deadweight he assembled till this day.

You could say it's easy to say we should've signed Asensio in hindsight, but when we were linked to him everyone and their dog begged the club to sign him and the guy is a Barca fan too, but the man didn't want to pay measly 3.5m which he paid for Douglas.

This is where Robert is a breath of fresh air.

Yes Zubi had his blunders. On the other hand, he got us Ter Stegen, right?

Remember that Zubi's primary target was Aguero. Bravo was signed on Unzue's recommendation.

He did sign ter Stegen though, but that's the least expected of him. Rakitic too.

But compare that to his stupid signings and lack of signings. Letting go off valuable prospects and chasing them a year later.

And the guy barely traveled. Always with the team.

Meanwhile Robert is one day in Sevilla and the next in Roma. And then suddenly in Brazil or Argentina.

Imagine if we had a competent guy like Robert (at least he's had a good start and is active) from the beginning.

I will wait b4 declaring Robert better,I like his approach but let's see how the execution will work out.
And I agree with you,Zubi passing on many guys was his main issue. you can make an argument that his signings was good but he passed on some gr8 deals.

So far it's good.

Can just speculate, but I wonder whether Zubi would have taken the chance to sign Marlon as an example.

I hope he continues on this.

A bit strange that they don't have the player with the worldrecord transferfee anymore (as the last 16 years).

Maybe Florentino didn't want to sell James just to be the talk of the town (buy Pogba). But that is kind of new isn't it?
