Looks like Man City are taking the Real Madrid method.

Good news for them is it doesn't seem like they're giving up as many chances in last two games as Real did against Barca and in the big CL matches. Whether it is sustainable we will see.

It's a risky game to play but they do seem to be conceding some control with the pay off of needing less chances to score, and being able to save more chances against their goal. Being bullied less.

Wasn't long ago that Arsenal fans were signing petitions against the signing of Madueke and now he looks like the only one that might actually do something.

He's been a class signing for them, better than Eze and Gyorkores so far.

Still early but he's been really good. Some of his getting to the line and cutting back been top class. needs to sustain it though, and will probably be on the bench when Saka comes back.

Saka has been a professional hospital patient lately, so I'd assume he'll get plenty of game time.

Pep does seem to be playing more of a 'basic' (harsh word, but you get my point) game. Their passing isn't as pretty and sophisticated as it was before and they're playing more in moments. I think he's adapting to the higher physicality in football in recent years, and especially has to do that against big, physical teams like Arsenal.

More of a "fundamental " game than basic, IMO. Which is fine, some all timers like Ancelotti and SAF were like that.

I am not sure of he is adapting to physicality or to his own midfield, which is probably the worst for Pep's ball during his career.

Other than Rodri, his midfield and fullbacks are more suited to this. Hell, Rodri was a big player for Villarreal & Atletico who never played possession football,he himself is suited for this.

Stats back it up, zero successful dribble or crosses.

Ederson had amazing ability on the ball, but he wasn't that great a shot stopper. Donnarumma isn't as good on the ball but is usually very good at keeping shots out.

Neville made an interesting observation earlier by saying that this City team don't need as much possession or domination of games, because they have a goalkeeper and a striker who can change the game with saves and goals in each box.

talking about the previous games. I don't rate him in general, but he was good in those.
