Wouldn’t be surprised if Liverpool wins the CL again

By far the most consistant team right now. If it was just one big league they'd win easily. Other top teams can match the over 1-2 legs though. Their core and system is so strong.

Sheff United have been solid this season but Liverpool are unbeaten at Anfield in CL/PL for over 900 days.... ridiculous stat.

Sure, but no need to draw the game either. There are fixtures which on paper look easy, but Sheff could have been what the newly promoted sides on form were to Barcelona.

Maybe, if they played at home and not on Anfield.

I think they will if they get past AM. AM on a good day are the worst match-up from them. No wonder the guys on Redcafe hoped to avoid Atletico the most.

Liverpool will beat AM easily if they're on their game. For AM to advance they need to play out of their skins AND Liverpool need to be off their game.

😃 Epl fans were bagging us when we racking up huge points. Saying la liga was weak. Now City and Liverpool are doing the same its because they're such strong teams. Double standards.

It was obvious to most people. Even teams like Bilbao could beat Man U because they were used to playing vs stronger teams like Real and Barca.

They will beat everybody if they are on their game, but AM are one of the few teams who could frustrate them.

Liverpool are like Pep's Barca. One or two levels above the rest with enormous expectations.

We managed to only with 2 out of 4 CL's with Pep. Not because there were better teams, but because margins weren't on our side. Madrid for example weren't the best team in the world the 3 years they won CL.

Anything can happen in CL. It doesn't matter if Liverpool steamrolls the PL, one slight mistake or luck in favour of the opposition will knock them out.

Despite Atlético being the worst in recent years, it wouldn't be THAT big of a surprise if they beat Liverpool.

Yea, I agree. Liverpool's domination is of the same ilk with Barca's, maybe even more impressive since their team doesn't have all time great players like our team did. It's one thing to dominate with peak Xavi and Iniesta, and another thing to dominate with Henderson and Milner. They consistently play the best football in the world.

But I do think during Pep's Barcelona there were more great teams around. 2009 Chelsea, 2009 United, 2010 Inter, 2010 Bayern, 2011 United were stronger teams than what we have today.

True.

The problem for Liverpool now is that they are/will be studied so hard. Winning as many games as they are, they're obviously doing something right and better than the rest. What? And how can this be stopped, or even integrated into other teams? Questions that probably will be answered soon.

This is what all great teams face. Pep's Barca was studied so hard and the 'solution' was parking the bus, which still was pretty ineffective considering how often we played against parked buses and won.

This type of targeted focus together with hunger disappearing and aging squad is what can stop Liverpool. I doubt the latter will be an issue any time soon though.

I don't see it like that. Liverpool are not playing impressively every week. Pep's Barca were feared way more

Don't think so. I have a different view.

If you look at Pep's Barcelona the closest any team got to completely shutting us down in 4 years was Hiddink's Chelsea in 2009 where we didn't even have a shot on target until Iniesta's screamer and were completely dominated. This shows that teams knew the recipe on how to stop us after less than 1 season into Pep's tenure.

Imo, any team can't keep the rhythm for more than 2-3 seasons. After that, a certain erosion appears in terms of motivation, injuries, fitness levels, which makes the decline happen. It's not so much that the teams catch up and find you out (although it plays a part too of course), it's not like Liverpool play some sort of insanely advanced stuff that other teams are yet to decipher. They press high, get the ball back in deep 'enemy territory' and have fast players who know how to exploit spaces. It's how they scored 3 of the 4 goals against us. As long as they will keep up their hunger and energy levels, and the other big teams like Barca, Madrid, Juventus and Bayern (let's not even mention former great teams like United, Chelsea who have fallen a lot) will continue to show big flaws, Liverpool will probably win (as in they are clear CL favorites).

As you see, the other big teams aren't exactly in a great moment. Barca have Messi but crap management from top to bottom, Juve seem old, Madrid don't have Ronaldo so they lost a big part of what made them great, Bayern is barely winning Bundesliga these days (this year they might even miss that), Atletico will fight to even make top 4 in Spain if they carry on like this. PSG are serial bottlers in CL and have a very unstable team mentally, and City seem to have both a bad defense and an attacking line that is super-wasteful (which is asking for trouble in a competition like the CL).
