Nelson Semedo

Not sure should be paying 50m for Semedo but Sidibe price is almost irrelevant as that juts looks like a bargain in current market not the going price. Not even current market really as looks as if prices have gone up again.

The market is crazy and 50m for a sought after player from a number of top clubs is not not a crazy price anymore.

Didnt Dembele also go for 15m? Or slightly more? The other poster here used Mathieu as an example for 20m so Semedo for a truckload of money is fair, but there are always counter examples to that.

Which Galactico type players have we signed? I don't get this comparison.

Is Arda a Galactico? Is Gomes a Galactico? Is Aleix Vidal a Galactico?

Are Paco, Vermaelen, Umtiti, Digne, ter Stegen, Bravo, Song, Cillessen, Galacticos?

Where are the Galacticos? Oh....Neymar and Suarez....Well guess what, Barca have always signed top players like them too.

Give Marlon, Alena and Palencia a shot. Sure, they deserve it, but you still have to sign players to compete, because the moment we stop competing for titles, you guys will be the first ones to condemn the club, the players, the manager etc. for the situation the team is in.

Barca haven't signed Galacticos. We have simply signed badly, and made some really bad decisions in the transfer market on mediocre players.

They were all except Umtiti, mostly glamour signings or one season wonders, or even a mix of both.

Gomes after the Euros and one season, name before the team,

Paco bought after one season because we didn't trust Munir, yet we got rid of Sandro because we wanted to use Munir...why? because he was a name on peoples lips.

Vermaelan signed because he was considered a good centre back at the time when he was playing, regardless of fact he was always injured...the name before the team.

Song bought as a centre back...the name before the team. Lets try make more money to build a bigger base in Africa.

Arda was likewise name before the team. One of our rivals biggest players, and additional exposure in the middle east as he's a popular player there. A statement of power rather than sporting.

Digne one season wonder at Roma, did nothing of note at PSG, should have warned us off about how he is when he has a fat contract and comfort. But nope.

Look at the players we are interested in now. They're either big names or flavour of the month signings after one good year, and all massively overpriced. Verratti, Semedo, Bellerin, Seri, Herrera, Mendy, Coutinho, Davinson....it's a disgrace really. They're either not what we need, one season wonders or huge outlays that prevents the signing of anyone else.

We will always overpay on transfers, that's the nature of the game for a big club. But that means you buy smart, which our current board is unfortunately showing itself incapable of doing. "Oh, that guy had a good season? heres 50 million!"

50m isnt a fair price. Sidibe went for 15m last summer. How much did Dembele go for? When has the RB position been strong in terms of talent? Players who are really good frequently gets moved to the center in order to be more involved in the game. Thats not a new trend.

Come on man,you were the one who kept telling us no way Pogba will be sold for less than 150M in this market.
There is always bargains in the market and crazy sells. You can't just take those as the benchmark for the market.
I would say 30-35M is fair price for Semedo.
Dembele? he was a talented teenager who were playing in smaller club and only wanted BVB who isn't the wealthiest club, same for Sidibe (and many argue that Semedo is far better)
Semedo is playing in a team that is far bigger and has offers from Manu and Barca. with half o f top clubs in the world looking for a RB (Barca,Manu,City,Bayern). His value is the value of what the market offer. And it isn't 15 or 25

Barca tried to sign Dembele by the sounds of it but he wanted more first team football and again that it is a bargain in last years market more than going price.

Examples can be given on both sides but 50m is not outrageous in this market for a sought after player in position many top clubs are looking for but it is still a lot of money.

You seem to pick and choose when the market is applicable a bit.

Buying 27 year olds who had one good season is dumb, but we should always be looking at the best players in the world who are younger than 25 years old and dont play at a top 10 rich club. The best players in the top 6-7 best leagues should always be our targets. That unfortunately means we dont have the luxury of waiting several years before deciding to buy a player who performs at a high level. Fabinho, Lemar and Sidibe should have been bought last summer. Instead we are stuck with lots of dead weight and plenty of weak spots in our squad.

50m is obscene for a RB and we should move elsewhere. Marca is reporting 55m. We can spin it all we want about how it is a "fair" price but it really isnt.

Yet when it suits you claim this is a market where Pogba will go for 200m..

Cant have it all ways. The market is incredibly inflated and 50m is high but isn't obscene.

Look at price they are quoting for Mendy to Man City of around 45m euros or the price of 40m euros Man City have supposedly paid Benfica for their GK. The market is crazy.

Can quote price of Silva to City but that just looks a bargain in this market.

How much do you think Semedo is worth?

thats funny. I said that 30-35m is a fair price for Nelsinho so no need to get all worked up. 50m? MOVE ELSEWHERE!

Which we can plug easily with the right players. Identify the mould of the player you like, say Verratti, then look for players with similar attributes. As I've said, Fornals has a low release clause and plays a lot like Verratti. Yet we won't buy him, we'll insist on Verratti, and then Fornals will go to Arsenal, and two years we know who we'll be trying to sign. Quite tragic really.

Attacking superstars from rich clubs with massive marketability are totally different. Nelsinho for 50m is obscene. By far the most expensive RB in the world, not even close really. We need to look elsewhere if thats the price we will be paying.

Not the point really. The point is you used the inflated market to over state his price by far and said would go up further the next summer as so much money in market.

The reason you quoted 200m was his marketability etc in this market. So it is all relative.

How much would you pay for Semedo?

Havent seen enough of him to really form an opinion.

Just that 50m for a full back chased by number of top clubs who think he is good enough is not that far off what will be paid.

There's no need to go after him at that price. We need to look elsewhere. Man U can have him if they are really that desperate.
