Nations League 24/25

Comparing the number 10 position to Full Backs is crazy.

Number 10/AM is the most glamorous and attractive position on the pitch.

A World Class CM or FB is more valuable to a team than a World Class #10 simply because it's tougher to get elite players in those positions.

Not speaking in terms of actual transfer value, but the value they bring to a team.

KDB, Musiala, Wirtz, Palmer, Odegaard, Eze, Rogers, XaviS, Bellingham (arguably) are all attacking midfielders and some of the brightest talent in the sport TODAY.

Vitinha suoerb

They had guys like chapuisat and the yakin brothers to be fair who were white. And guys back in the early days of the world cup who were white and good at the time.
All the fundamental achievements of the french NT come down to african origin players

And even the white players they had like Platini or Griezmann are Italian and Spanish in origin, respectively

I'm talking about Switzerland. But of course I agree that immigrants have contributed hugely to European nts
.and not just black ones as you correctly say

De Bruyne kinda played all over the pitch. Sometimes as a #10, sometimes as a #8.
Only on paper and in the teamsheets. He was the only City player who was given complete freedom by Pep to do his thing. He used to drift right and operate in central attacking midfield areas all the time.

People misunderstand that just because he has great defensive work rate. He's definitely an attacking midfielder. Bruno is an attacking midfielder with a high defensive work rate too.

None of them or few of them are really classic number 10s like a zico baggio or maradona. They're more like modern 10s.yiu can't really say that Bellingham, eze, ode and Rogers and de bruyne play like baggio

Bellingham had his best season as a false 9. Also more box to box (just very offensively).

Brightest talents =/= best ones. The teams with worldclass CMs will be the serial winners. Vitinha, hopefully Pedri... and whoever else emerges.

Alsop fuckign hell, Odegaard, Simons and Eze, really?

No one rates de Bruyne whos been the best #10 in modern times over the likes of Xavi, Iniesta, Kroos, Modric…

Also today Vitinha vs Wirtz. Just one game, but another nice example.
Wirtz is generally rated higher than Vitinha.

Vitinha hype is very recent and literally started this season.

When these young players were coming through, the world talked about the quartet of Pedri, Musiala, Wirtz and Bellingham. Vitinha was a flop at Wolves.

Who cares what the world talks about? There's usually an endless line of emerging "worldclass" #10s. I would never take one over a worldclass CM. That doesn't mean they are shit players. Just not as influential.
