This is the way, La Masia should always be priority number 1.

If the market is bad, then loan would be the best next option.

For the naysayers, remember that bar for success is low for any LW we bring in. If we bring him in on a loan and he scores 5 goals in LL, he will have matched Nico’s stats last season. I believe that Rashy is more than capable of doing that.

Then we can bring in someone permanent next season and/or promote from La Masia.

And we won’t have blown 60M on Nico. Win-win.

He cannot do that at all. He has never played as a target man, or even been able to hold the ball up with his back to goal in central areas. Man United fans lament his inability to do this too. He's tall but his main trick is cutting in from the left and shooting. He is a very one-dimensional player but he's much better (relatively speaking) facing the goal and with space - not with a defender up his arse and facing his own goal.

You can tell some of you guys have never watched him beyond the highlights. I have seen his entire career and he's had like two moderately good seasons in about 10 years, and he's a perfect example of someone whose stats make him seem better than he is (when he's having a purple patch) because his all-round game and work rate horrendous.

Do not be fooled by his English/Man U media hype, compilation videos or stats. He's not very good at all. Signing or loaning him to play as a back up target man is exactly the poor type of decision Barca SHOULD NOT make. He can be ok as rotation out on the left but he isn't someone who will transform a side.

The point is for him to get those stats you have to play with a man down in general play. He gives the ball away for fun and blasts shots into the stands constantly, his decision making and maturity is horrendous for an almost 28 year old (on the park), never helps out the LB. You're falling into the trap of solely judging Rashford based on stats, as he's abysmal going by eye test.

But yes, the bar for success being low is fair enough and he should be able to clear very low expectations.

He scored 17 goals in the league, the rest of his goals came in cups (they were in EL, not CL) and was outscored by Callum Wilson in league (who played fewer minutes and got nowhere near the hype). 10 of his goals came in a 10 game spell and he scored 7 in the others. He was being slated by Man United fans before the World Cup then had a purple patch from Jan-Mar. His all-round game was as poor as ever (this point is very important) but he was scoring goals for a few months and the media blew it out of all proportion. Anyone who watched him IN FULL 90 MINUTE GAMES and seen past the hype knew he was being overvalued. I said his scoring burst wouldn't last and he'd revert to type, and lo and behold. It was a hot streak of scoring, nothing more.

Plus, even if I am being harsh, it was ONE SEASON. History is littered with players having one good season. What 'happened to him' is everything he hit for those two months stopped going in and the media backing he had was gone (though he still has his lovers who think he can 'be a great player' even though he's 28 nearly and most of his career has been poor). He will be 35 and they'll still be talking about his mythical 'potential'.

I know you are not talking to me and have the hump with me, but on this subject you have to let it go for the sake of your mental wellbeing (in Barca terms). It was one season, arguably just a few good months. Don't lose sleep over it - he's not worth it as a player.

Surely you can see it is an outlier? He never got near those stats before or after in his career.

You don't judge a player by their anomalous highs. You judge them by what they do consistently. Judging them by their highs and ignoring their floor is a sure way to make mistakes as a club and exactly why United find themselves in the predicament of being unable to shift him.

How many times have I said it, though? To let him have his moments you need to sacrifice a player as his all-round game is absolutely horrendous. United fans say this too. He's exactly the type of guy whose (decent, not even amazing) stats make him appear better than he is.

When did he play striker? If he was listed as 'striker' on the team sheet he wasn't playing like Lewy or Kane does - he runs channels and looks for the ball down the sides. He cannot hold the ball up centrally. Striker and winger aren't neatly defined areas in a team that totally change a player's playstyle just by being listed there - he doesn't play striker the way you want him to as a backup for Lewa. He isn't a target man.

Also, he hardly ever works hard or presses. Maybe he would at Barca if Flick got through to him but it's far from a given. And he would sulk I believe if Raphinha or whoever started a big CL game or Clasico and he was left on the bench. His ego is much bigger than his ability and he will believe he should be starting. For someone who's achieved very little in his career he doesn't half seem stupid enough to buy his own hype.
