If you believe Deco sure, according to him Xavi also wanted some brazilian who striker as replacement for Gavi, a box to box midfielder.

Fuck off. Who even is Deco? Bojan would be better.

Him leaving to play for Chelsea's second team is one of the most stupid decisions from sporting point of view. He was a local Catalan La Masia boy who was the only other striker in the club except 50-year old Lewa. He would get a lot of minutes this season and he would be just one injury away from becoming Barca's starting 9.

He would barely get a game for Barca this season.

Technically not good enough and long way to go to be better than options Barca have.

At best he would be looking at Pau level minutes.

Lewa, Ferran, Olmo etc all be chosen at CF ahead of him.

Marc Guiu on leaving Barça:

"I don’t regret leaving Barça. I left because I thought it was best for my career, and now it’s time for me to enjoy the Premier League. It was a difficult decision. Barça gave me everything, it was my home. But there were many strikers and they couldn’t guarantee me a place in the first team, so I think I chose the best option."

He played 13 minutes in 3 games this season so far, yeah it definitely looks like Chelsea can guarantee him a bigger role. I hope that's enough for him to enjoy the PL, because I somehow doubt he'll add many more over the season. But maybe I'm wrong, let's see.

This was one of the most stupid decisions of a La Masia player ever. He was starting getting chances and looking good, only 50 year old Lewa was ahead of him and he left for money to that circus.

He played 13 minutes in 2 games ON LOAN at Sunderland then Chelsea recalled him after Delap's injury. But only after Nico Jackson refused to return after loan deal with Bayern was already agreed and they also couldn't BUY their other target Conrad Harder from Sporting who prefered to go to Leipzig (obviously the right move for his development). So they were looking to sign a new striker instead of recalling the one they had on loan, shows all you need to know how much they rate Guiu.

He'll just return to warm the bench, maybe play some games in the Mickey Mouse cup until January, then will be loaned again and sold to some midtable PL club in a year or two so it's logical from Chelsea's perspective why they've signed him for basically nothing as will very likely make at least small profit on him even if he totally flops as I expect him to.

I don't really care about him leaving as I believe we sold a bigger talent (you all know who he is although most people probably disagree with me but that's another story) but he can't say with a serious face he went to a club that buys 5 strikers every year and sign them on 7 year contracts only to sell them two years later because he thought he'll have a guaranteed first team spot there, lol.

Also, can guarantee you that he'll return to Barcelona in a few years. To play for Espanyol ofc.

He never looked great.

Poor technically and not a great finisher.

Had good physicality and could run/close all day but he was miles off getting increasing minutes for Barca.

Not better than Lewa, Ferran, Olmo or even Pau there last season.

Chelsea will have bought him as a punt due to his physicality being something other teams may like if never develops and make a bit of profit on him most likely.

Unpopular take but I preferred Hugo Alba from seeing both at Barca youth, and that is not saying much.

But Guiu got that goal, and made a career wage out of it. Fair play.

Alba stinking up Serbian league so far it seems btw.

And the hype train of strikers who never make it here moves, to Gistau.
