Pellegrini is easily the best manager ever seen in la liga. He worked wonders with Malaga and Villareal despite lack of funds. Also, his stint at Real Madrid was far from a failure considering he racked up 96 points. It isn't his fault that Guardiola's Barca side were in their prime and nearly unstoppable.

With all the money and resources he'll have at City, it'd be of little surprise if he were to finish with the league title and even get far in the CL. He'll easily take down Moyes' United side and will likely be better than Mourinho's Chelsea as well.

So, let me get this straight... The best manager in the history of La Liga, with the most expensive squad in the history of La Liga, play against the team that finished third the previous year (while Madrid was first) with an unknown manager in his first professional job and gets humiliated 2-6 in their home court, gets out of Champions League in the round of 16 and loses from a third division club in Copa del Rey. Imagine if he wasn't the best coach ever...

He only had a single season at Madrid and ended up with 96 points in the league. It was an admirable season no doubt, just outshined by Barca. Think of how amazingly he's done with clubs that have far less resources.

Also I think you have the seasons mixed up. Barca won the treble the previous year, and he didn't lose 2-6 to us, he lost 1-0 and 2-0.

He wasn't the one that lost 6-2 to us.

What a pathetic appointment from Man City. Just another Mancini really albeit with a little more tactical intelligence.

City could have tried to get Klopp, Ancelotti, Mourinho, Benitez or Prandelli. Even Guardiola last year.

Pellegrini won't win them the league or CL I bet any money on that.
hmm But Rodgers is a world beater?

Rodgers is just a younger Pellegrini at the moment to be honest. But and this is the important bit without the history of bottling it on the big occasions. Only time will tell on that latter part.

Anyway Man City have different targets to achieve than us and are looking at winning the EPL and CL. I stand by my comments that Pellegrini will never win either. Man City have the money to get the best but they've failed three times. First in Hughes then in Mancini and now in Pellegrini.

Quite frankly the Barca lot here like Pellegrini because he plays attractive football - but not good enough football or tactics to ever threaten Barcelona. So they'll always talk him up and managers like him because they know he'll never threaten them unlike a Mourinho or a Benitez etc.

P.s. I'm awaitng this to be put in the troll thread

During his only season with Madrid he was only 3 points behind, and that was our best season ever (until this season).* We got 99 points and Madrid 96, which was the best tally in their history, and this with Ronaldo injured for almost half of the season.

He was a penalty from being in the CL final in 2006, and less than 1 minute from making it past Dortmund this year.

It looks like they're getting Negredo. Sad to see Sevilla lose both Navas and Negredo to them in the same summer. They have brought in a lot of money though.

Does anybody else think that these signings by City are a bit underwhelming? I havent seen much of Fernandinho so I can't really comment on him. However, I think Navas and Negredo are both good players but they're not world beaters and I'm not sure if they're really an upgrade on what they have at the moment. It appears that the cash isn't being thrown around as much as it used to be at City and it says a lot if they get Negredo instead of Cavani this summer.

Signings by City are never worth how much was payed for them. Navas is a boss, admittedly, but Fernandinho seems to be a waste of money to me.

I don't think City will be winning the PL/CL with players like Fernandinho and Negredo. Fernandinho is 28 years old and he's only got 5/6 caps.........

Whatever happens they'll do better than what they've done with Mancini before and his transfer policy.
