Diaz-Ferran-Raphinha

Flickster would have bloody loved that press.

Suffered a ton vs Paris coz Rashford doesn't have that press and Lamine evidently wasn't fit.

But Rashy for free, couldn't ask for more. Content so far, and he will get better.

Nah, this guy always fades out when he runs out of energy. Not a top top player. (of course same could apply to Raphinha..)

Let's see if this lasts, also Bayern usually starts strong and then fades away.

There is no mistake in missing on a player we couldn't afford. That's for sure.

Diaz is a good starter wing, not elite one. He would have been decent fit and it wasn't outrageous that we were interested.

We did the right thing when we realised he was going to be costly, and moved on quickly.

Are you sure we could not afford him?

How much does he cost yearly in his total package (wages plus amortized fee)?

He cost Bayern 70M, with a 4 year contract, which is smart due to his age.
But Barca would have made it 5 years contract, that is 14M amortization alone. That's around Rashford rumoured salary with us after he got us discount. So, he was surely more costly, by significant margin, than Rashford.

And we barely registered everyone, and needed Ter Stegen injury and Inigo leaving to register Rashford, Tek and Joan.

PS: bein says Diaz is getting paid 14M at Bayern

Diaz over Rashford is a no brainer, come on... We got Rashford because it was cheap and we could send him back after a season.

If you watch Rashford, he broke the pressing so many times vs PSG. De Jong alone was waving his hands 2-3 times at him, I saw Pedri once also.

And not becayse of laziness, but out of poor reading of the game.

Runs fast and sometimes he can fly one in the top corner, but that's about it, a typical EPL-style runner with a cannon of a shot. Has no idea how to press properly and knows nothing about positional football.

He can be of good use, but Diaz is far more polished.

Rashford was also Plan C.

They failed to sign Nico too who would be much more suited for Flick’s pressing system.

Would have been interesting to see Diaz at Bayern vs Nico at Barca.

Yes Diaz is a better footballer, more polished as you say and more refined technically with a better football brain. Rashford is more likely to come up with a magic moment while being anonymous the rest of the game.

I guess it depends what a person wants more - effective moments or consistency (usually) with decisions throughout a game. Of course Luis can produce lovely moments too, but he's probably not as good at that as Rashford is when he's in statistical form.
