Diaz actually has 11 or more goals in 5 out of 7 season in Europe, not twice.

You are talking about league goals alone
That doesn't make it feel much better to be honest 😅

At 25 I wouldn't want to sign him for 80mil. At 29, I'd probably prefer someone else even at 30mil. I dont see him as a sure thing at all, and a sure thing is what you buy at 29 years old.

Let's look at some stats shall we.

Out of the 7 seasons he has spent in Europe, he has managed to score more than 8 goals in a season only twice. One of them this season where stats are a bit elevated for all Liverpool players due to their dominance.

Out of the 7 seasons he has spent in Europe, he has never managed more than 5 assists.:lol: This despite playing the majority of games ( His injury record is good ).

The numbers are eye watering in their mediocrity. But that's what Luiz Dias is ... Mediocre.

I am sure he will be the most criticised player in this forum if he comes here next season. ( Bar Ter Stegen obviously. )

I should actually correct this as he has only played 6 seasons in Europe. In 2021-2022 he moved over to Liverpool mid season and I mistakenly counted that as 2 seasons. This is the only season he has managed more than 5 assists with a whopping 7 assists.

Furthermore, his European stats are even worse. In 51 European games for Porto and Liverpool in Europa League and Champions League he has managed a paltry 17 goals ( 1 in 3 ) despite playing some absolute shitters, in the Europa League especially.

In those 51 games , his total number of assists is ................ ZERO !

In 10 EFL cup and Community Shield games he has a whopping 2 goals and his total number of assists is ................. ZERO !

In the Portuguese cup and Community Shield equivalent he has played 8 games and scored 4 goals and his total number of assists is .............. ZERO !

Luis Diaz!
He's from Barrancas!
And he hates to pass the ball !
La la la la.

Deco has to be taking the piss on this one. Would rather sign a cheap backup La liga winger and go big on a striker + GK. I don't wanna hear "but Diaz can play false 9" either.

Wait until you see Nico Williams numbers or Rodrygo league numbers. And fans think 60M is a bargain for the first, while the 2nd is a superstar who is worth 80M easily. All based on age and the belief of potential improvements, which many times never happens.

Diaz has scored, 14, 11, 22, 5, 13 & 17 goals in his European career, the 5 goals season he had played 1.357 minutes only due to injuries.

He has been consistent and actually decent starting winger in his time in Europe. Nothing fancy or elite, but the idea that he is shit player is absolute nonsense and the typical "yelling at the sky" reaction from our fanbase whenever we made a signing.

The price will be the determining factor here, above 60M and he is surely not worth it, 40M and below and it is a very good deal.

Agreed.

Rapha had similar stats to Diaz before Flickball. Maybe he could take a step forward as well. But certainly not for a high fee or wages.

He would definitely be a good rotational player, though, who could widen the field and draw some defenders, taking some pressure off Yamal.

For max 45 mil would be a good deal. Can offer us good 3 years, and looks like a player that would take Saudi money, so getting rid of him should also not be a problem in the future.

Last time we got a Luis from Liverpool we won the CL.

Never said he was a shit player, but given the ages and prices I listed, it doesn't make sense to me. Especially considering our financial situation.

Have never really wanted Leao, he's lazy and incredibly inconsistent. Williams was young and showed progression previous 2 seasons, but he's been largely poor this season and that's worrisome considering he's turning 23, was relatively healthy (as far as missed games goes) and his price tag/wages.

Lots of options out there, and money could be spent much better in other areas that would have a much larger impact.

As a guy who watched him week in week out:

He's a very good dribbler and quick. He used to be electric and exciting to watch.

That's it really.

Mane was levels above at LW. Coutinho was levels above at Liverpool too.

He isn't useless like Nunez because he can dribble and carry the ball very well but that is pretty much it.

He's a massive bottler in big games and his big misses in the clutch moments last season contributed to costing us the PL.

Since Mane left, we don't have a single clutch forward in the CL. Salah is clutch in the league but plays like a completely different man in the CL these days.

Our most clutch player is our CB lmao.

Another huge red flag is that I have noticed a slight decline in his speed and dribbling lately. It hasn't happened yet but if you notice carefully you can see it coming. I knew Edwards was gonna try and sell him this summer.

If he stays, it wouldn't be the worst thing as an option because he's on low wages.

For anyone who plays FIFA........

He's like an 83/84 OVR rated player.

Has some great qualities and is a very good player in general but not World class and never goes above 85.

Mane was literally rated 90 and 89 in his peak and was among the top players in the world at his best.

Fifa makes it so easy to explain.

Yeah 3-4 year contract and Saudi handshake deal for decent money, Barca wins and Diaz.

A very, very strong handshake. I could live with 45mil fee and selling to Saudi for 30mil 3 years later. Still not ideal though imo.

Flick is absolutely killing it with the kids and guys in their prime. Give him young legs who can improve and the man will cook.

You know you’re reaching when you’re hoping he ends up as Paulinho
