I watched both Messi and Ronaldo from they started, its silly to even compare them - Messi might never be surpassed, ever. We experienced magic - even if it wasn't only Messi.. Iniesta and Alves and Busi, Xavi were a big part of it (also Eto'o, Suarez and even Yaya, Keita, Pique, Puyol, Marquez and even Pedri and Larsson).

Patrick Mahomes: "Lionel Messi attending the Super Bowl on Sunday? He's the GOAT of his profession and have someone like that at the game it would be awesome to showcase who I am and what talent I have "I got to watch him when he played in Kansas and he scored couple of goals... you see the greatness that he plays with every single day and he's someone that I look up to and try to get on his level someday."

Even though he lost his alien pace from 2011, 2015 Messi is the complete player of all time.

I would argue his pace was just as good if not slightly better in 14-15 than 10-11, mainly because he was much more motivated (after the WC final loss) and his conditioning was TOP NOTCH, especially from Jan onwards. Best shape he's ever been in.

His dribbling was slightly better in 10/11 though. Pace wise, long haired Messi was the best, up until 2009ish.

Also, that video is why the GOAT is the GOAT.

CR7 finishing a bunch of chances (huge quality, no doubt) in 16/17 set up by RM's CL machine (Modric, Kroos, Marcelo, Carvajal, Benz all dishing it for him) doesn't come close to Messi's peak level in the CL, where he dominated the game in every aspect. Just goals don't capture the essence of a footballer's quality, as important as they are (obviously).

2011 was probably his dribbling peak with more longer distance runs with a faster acceleration imo. It was an absolute pleasure watching him become a 1 man team at times.

If 2007 Messi played right now, he would probably be the best player in the world right now. Just shows how incredible the GOAT was, even in his early age.

I agree, in both versions, his dribbling was sublime, though in 10/11 he was more willing (and able) to go into those solo runs.

2014/15 version was a considerably better creator though. The 2010/11 version would not attempt to make most of the passes appearing in the video. That said, playing with Neymar and Suarez up front and whatever that means for spacing, helps a lot.

2010/11 was more focused on scoring (though 2014/15 ended up with slightly more goals). I feel like he could score at will, whereas in 2014/15 he only scored 2 goals in the whole KO (2 vs. 5)
