Lionel Messi - v7

Even if you think he is not captain material anymore, you can't take his armband away. He holds such a place in the club and the club want to put the scandal behind. They didn't even fine him.

Now, i agree with you that he shows a very poor attitude as a captain in the videos. In this case, another player with more fighting spirit should step up. It is not rare to see a non captain speaking, motivating the group. Who are your vice captains ?

Problem is we don't really have players who would step up in tough situations to lift up morale in the team or say some things that needs to be said at the right moment. One of the main reasons why we are where we are. We probably didn't have a true locker room leader since Masche left.

Busi, Pique and Roberto are vice captains and I don't see anyone of them being too vocal.

Also, if his teammates would decide so they could take Messi's armband away. But they won't as they still respect him too much. And neither will the club because this would create more public drama we don't need.

Talk is cheap, these players don't need motivation speeches from Messi. Messi doing all the offensive works are not enough motivation for them to do their share like Ter Stegen play one game as a World Class player, Semedo not being ass etc etc. But nope people here ask Messi more, to put a defensive duties too while doing the whole attacking. Messi had enough with these bums

Maybe he realized he is half dead and there are 45 minutes left. Physical preparation of our players was horrible under Valverde and Setien. Tis is the first thing Koeman should address. Without that we can't compete on the top level. 2014/15 season was the last one when we were able to run and press.

So what happened to Setien intense training regime, losing La Liga and 8-2 ? How about look first on what players he got and think of what's best to utilize them

I was in favour of him leaving, but after the dust has settled I am very happy hes still here. Will make the transition to a younger core much easier.

Younger core means, buying Depay and wijnaldum. Koeman will fail and people here will blame Messi for not giving it all and walking

Can't hold this against him. Club hired him during season and there was literally no time to improve fitness with games every 3 days. You do this basic stuff in pre-season and if you worked hard there you'll benefit from it during the season. Okay, there was that Corona break, but due to the restrictions it was on the players to do their individual work and this is hard to track.

New coaches come in all the time during seasons and work on fitness.

The reports at time said that Setien did but quickly realised squad too old to cope with that side of it.

He may have an excuse for fitness level, but what is his excuse for the lineup? For not giving Puig and Fati a minute? He talked a lot, and at the end we got Valverde vol.2.

No lol.

Valverde probs gets through.

Setien copypasted Ernie (lineup, tactical setup) for the CL games, and the outcome was what would have happened with Ernie.

It was probably positive that it happened with another coach, so that people could realize the problems are beyond the coach
