They've had money but spunked too much on individual players who aren't as impactful as they should be with the funds. Tchouameni 80 million for example is pretty honking. Cost more than Kroos and Modric combined. It's very difficult for them to assemble a team anywhere near the one they had in 2010-2018. They have the funds to fix their midfield, but not to the level of Kroos, Modric quality. But then what do you do with Bellingham? He's useless for them in any kind of proper midfield structure.
Not easy to move past botched Galactico signings. It takes time. Bellingham looks like a James Rodriguez 2.0.

The post 2018 Brazil and France fetish has hurt them a bit.
I agree. Barca is on the rise, but our top level depends on the defense. We need a signing or two tho.
Poor recruitment as succession planning hurt them not prices.Obviously balooning prices hurt them, as they did us under Bartomeu.
I don’t recall tuning in for a longer stretch of RM playing than I did in the 2nd half tonight - they really unraveled, what a mess2 red cards for Madrid? Expect their TV showing all LaLiga refs in Barca kits, telling Laporta clones them in a secret Camp Nou underground lab.

Out of all teams in europe only us and city havent gone full throtle, and by that i mean potential to reach with all ingredients in there. I still believe that with flick we are heavy contenders to lift everything, its just a feeling that one quality january cb would make a huge difference in later stagesMaybe who knows?
But we are also in upswing. Trust Flick. Team will still go up.
CL is different story tho.
Madrid press outside or RMTV arnt gunning for the ref btw.
The focus is well and truly on Xabi.
I think personally that Perez keeps him and gives him what he wants for Christmas. But the environment is looking incredibly hostile for him, that's for sure.
