Miliato was in line the exact moment the foul takes place,
and he is much faster than Oyarzabal, let alone he did not have to run with the ball.

0 chance Oyarzabal would have gotten 1v1 with the keeper after this.

Stop crying. Look at this angle – specifically at Courtois’s position – and then you’ll understand Monsano’s logic.

Correct. The position of Courtois made this a clear denial of a goalscoring opportunity and hence a clear red card.

But we know what happens when Madrid get a fair refereeing decision. All their supporters think they are being persecuted because they are so used to preferential treatment.

And then there are always some Stockholm Syndrome Barca fans who join in to agree with them to show how nobley 'neutral' they are, when infact they are showing just as much Madrid bias as our friend Nadaplete Maribor.

The fatigue is real. :lamine:

The call isn't supposed to interpret relative speeds of players, that's NOT how this works. Distances and angles sure, all other things being equal. If it's up to relative speeds of players, what, you never give a red card even if a defender fouls last man with say mbappe 10 yards behind as a theoretical defender? Or does the referee now have to figure how fast each player can run with stamina left?

Sure I agree that the attacker was never beating militao in real life but that is irrelevant.

Refereeing in La Liga is in the spotlight once again, with Real Madrid preparing to file a complaint to FIFA after just four games of the new 2025-26 season.
Real Madrid TV announced plans to file a dossier in the wake of Los Blancos’ 2-1 win over Real Sociedad on Saturday afternoon.
Here’s what has been said.

“Real Madrid is preparing a report with everything that has happened in these first four rounds of La Liga and what happened last season,” said the announcement.
“A dossier, that report, which is going to be submitted to FIFA so that they take good note of what is happening in Spanish football with regard to refereeing.”

There’s been more criticism in the new campaign, with Real Madrid TV letting rip again after the game against La Real.

“This championship is a disgrace because of what we have just experienced. Real Madrid with one player less: Huijsen sent off and a yellow card for Xabi, who is obviously outraged, like all Real Madrid fans. It’s a shameful competition,” said the commentators on the channel.
“The referees have once again distorted reality. They have once again transformed an uninterpretable action into something interpretable, as they did the other day with Arda Güler (goal disallowed due to a handball by the Turk). In any case, even if they admit a blatant error, it will be of no use. Huijsen is not the last, they distort reality and justify this kind of thing. The consequences? We will see, but they have distorted reality.”

He doesn't have to adjust his run. The goal is 7m wide, he can run straight and it's a clear scoring chance 1 vs 1. Militao is the one that has to run on the more complicated trajectory.

Of course Militao is not in full speed, he is secondary actor to the action in this situation, the duel at full intensity is Huijsen vs the attacker. Maybe he catches the attacker maybe he doesn't. It's a judgment call by the ref and that's that.

The idiot of this action is Huijsen, he lets the attacker go and the fans find out if Militao catches him or not. Gambled on a close one, and got sent off by the ref. Not much else here.

The fact that you are calling this more complicated trajectory for Militao is completely bonkers.

You deserve what you tolerate. Start giving out fines to Madrid for this propaganda channel and they stop. They long ago crossed the line from freedom of speech into public pressure and manipulating the refs. LaLiga tolerates this shit, so they continue to escalate. Perez is a bitter old man who can't let go and really thinks Madrid is a victim of a crusade against them.

It's a clear red as it gets, as he prevents a top goal chance and the only outrage is, not accepting it. Courtois is 20m in front of the goal. If Huijsen doesn't foul him there, he has the empty goal in front of him.

Never paid attention to Courtois. It probably is a red card now.

Yellow is plausible also.

Yep, Oyarzabal opens up the afterburners and beats that 20m distance from Courtois in a second, while the latter stays in place wondering about Militao`s complicated trajectory!

This is the case for clear Madridismo Sociologico if you swap Huijsen for Araujo!

Been thinking what to say for ages. Afterburners made me chuckle.

Another thread where half of it is about the ref.

Atleast it was a tough decision, not a huge mistake either way.
