LOL keep telling yourselves that! Haaland wanted to come to Barca (twice) but they told him they couldn't afford him. Because they wasted money on Ferran Eric etc and will waste more money on Raphina Raphina is Dembele part 2

Do you actually believe we could’ve had Haaland but Laporta and co. deliberately said no so they could sign Torres and Garcia? How deluded would one have to be? I’m not talking about Laporta btw.

Anything special happening in 2026? Most of the important contracts under Laporta are until 2026: Araujo, Pedri, Garcia, Kessie and reportedly Gavi.

Only Ferran and Ansu are until 2027.

Don't think it's anything intentional. With Araujo and possibly Gavi we had to settle on a shorter term contract so they accepted a bit lower wages but can renegotiate in 2-3 years when club's finances should be better.

Garcia has signed a usual 5-year contract last summer and Pedri also renewed for 5 years.

Signing Kessie and Christensen on 4-year contracts also makes sense. We can either let them go before they turn 30 or extend their contracts before that for further 2-3 years if they do well but still not deep into their thirties like when we renewed 29 years old Busi and Alba for 5 years.

Haaland was unfeasible because the club can't compete for the big titles for now. You can't get Haaland when you are knocked out of the Group Stages in CL, come on. You can't get players like Haaland and Mbappe to rebuild with. You get them as cherry on cake missing piece.

Say we were in 2009, and we were looking to sell Eto'o because Guardiola didn't want him anymore and Haaland was on the market then. Haaland would have come swimming at Barcelona through the Atlantic Ocean.

In other words, the current status of the team is the most important factor. City are a top 3 team and have the best manager in the world. This is what weighted the most in his decision.

Well, hopefully by then we are back on track as a tier 1 team. Meaning regular CL semifinals and such, winning the Spanish title and so on.

If Barca sign likes of Lewa, Raphinha and Kounde then should be there or there abouts next season. Particularly if Ansu can stay fit.

It would be one of top five squads in europe and good enough to take on any of the others.

Could go from front options of Abde, Depay, Demir, Ilias, Jutgla, LDJ etc to a possible front six of Raphinha/Dembele/Auba/Lewa/Torres/Fati etc.

That is huge increase in quality.

I agree. Especially if we don't sell De Jong.

Next season is going to be exciting one if these players come in.

As much as pissed off with way team played towards end of season this is about first time Xavi has been allowed to stop and take a breather and take his time to fully implement ideas and to get in players he wants.

Still wonder if Raphinha may play the CM/AM type role at times with Dembele wider on one side with Alba/Alonso width on other and either Fati/Torres playing narrower to get in beside Lewa as that suits all of them more.

Getting ahead guessing formations that include players not even signed though.

De Jong for let's say 85m all in

Lew 45
Raphinha 60
Kounde 65
Plus the 2 free signing so, that's a net spend of what 95m.

That's some good business if you ask me, the TV deal & salary restructuring should allow us to cover the 95m plus salaries.

He always said the only way out of our current mess is to be competitive & if everything falls into place (TV money, selling dead wood, maybe de jong) he will be fulfilling his word on that.

Cant fault the man for what he's doing right now, especially again given what he came into.

Kept all our best young players.

Adding quality, not a bunch of 30 year olds like too many were getting their panties in a twist about, only 1, and he's truly WC.

Stabilizing us financially if not in the way some would like, (but that's a discussion for another day) no way around it really.

last thing he needs to do is figure out away to sell, release, loan, buy out certain players, we have about 6 of them.

How can anyone hate on the job he's doing.

Now it's up to xavi to put in work on the training field.

This is a pretty tasty squad to be honest, with proper management.

If the attack is: Lewa, Rapinha, Fati, Torres, Auba

Midfield is: Pedri, Gavi, FDJ, Kessie, Busquets (super sub in LL; no CL for this guy)

Defense is: Alba (no other LB options), Araujo, Christensen, Kounde/Koulibaly, Dest/Azipilicueta, Pique (super sub in LL)

Should make a strong challenge for LL and QF to SF of CL if we don't get a hard R of 16 tie.
