I watch about 20% of what I used to years ago. Still enough to draw comparisons between the specific difficulties of La Liga vs EPL. Different situations, but both posing problems.

So not enough to claim to know how all the teams play...

Getafe play in a way they would struggle to in EPL.

Teams have too much power to be bullied like that and far more targets to hit in box when teams sit that deep.

Simeone has struggled to do it with Atletico for years now at top level as the top teams have more pace and power as a whole than many had even 10 years ago.

Getafe struggles in La Liga also. Not a top rated side. Just a pain in the ass to play against. Would be the same for City and Arsenal to go there and try to unlock them. Especially with Spanish refereeing.

One defensive fuck-up, they score one, a mare to overturn the game and pull a win.

Obviously not such a pain in the ass they do anything but struggle.

They play in way would struggle in a more physical league to even bigger extent.

They have that style as their USP but would not get away with it in EPL, France, Germany etc in same way.

Much more pace and power in those leagues.

There is a reason few lower teams in EPL attempt to play that way week in week out.

Pain in the ass for a big team. This is typical of La Liga. Getafe loses 3-0 to some Osasuna, and we go there, and we know it's gonna be a 0-0, 1-1, 0-1 type of game.

Smaller teams have this edge vs the bigger sides. Always tough and you know beforehand which are the 6-8 tricky away games.

But wouldnt be all that big a pain for bigger EPL sides.

Works both ways. There are more EPL teams with a high technical level that can take more of ball off Barca and also more pace to hit against high line etc.

If it is for Barca and Madrid what makes you so sure it wouldn't be for EPL top sides? I thought you agreed Madrid is more elite than EPL sides.

I watched Girona Liverpool last season in CL, and Liverpool snatched a 1-0 with a dodgy pen. And Girona don't even defend that well.

EPL sides would struggle in La Liga as much if not more as La Liga sides would struggle to adapt to EPL pace.

Real have beaten Getafe home and away in each of the previous 3 seasons.

Barca have had some ropey referee decisions v that lot also to miss out on a win.

We saw worst Man Utd in EPL history absolutely batter Sociedad and Ath Bilbao also.

Wouldnt focus too much on individual games.

Still 6 wins in last 6.

Even when not playing well.
Of course. But we were talking about hard games. Madrid could easily go 6 out of 6 vs West Ham for instance and make it easier work at that also.

Remember some truly shocking results by West Ham at home vs Arsenal and Liverpool.

Less likely 6 out of 6 v West Ham than Getafe without some of best players.

Irrelevant anyway as no one arguing that West Ham are some kind of bogey side like Getafe made out to be.

Tell that to Barca. Scored 1 goal in last 3 matches away to them. Won the league twice.

I'd sign to play West Ham instead of Getafe this season right now.

A team like Newcastle would annihilate Getafe playing like that, they can do that in a league that doesn't prioritise size, probably not in England.

Yeah, well match up counts. Getafe would bother the City that won those 4 PL titles in a row and gave them a harder match than most EPL sides did away.
