Joan Laporta

Believe what Laporta lies? What on earth are you on about?

Reality is Laporta wanted to sign CVC deal to keep Messi and the board members/guarantor stopped it.

Again.. how many boxes has Laporta added to stadium?

Laporta didn't try to keep Messi . Why do you think Messi doesn't like him. He played it well. People think Laporta was somehow desperate to keep Messi but somehow Messi left... this means his approach worked like a charm.

Cut the amigos one by one, very fast. Kept his hands fairly clean.

Nothing was 'played well' Laporta wanted to keep Messi with CVC and board/benefactors stopped that atrocious decision.

You are an imbecile if think Laporta came out the Messi situation looking good or think he is happy with how that panned out.

Club wanted to keep Busquets.

Pique decided to retire.

Aye some cull that was.

Again...how many boxes did Laporta add?

You just got fed the stories any good politician uses. Good politicians always need to be seen as trying to stop heavily unpopular measures they in secret know can't be avoided. This is politics 101.

I don't care how things happened anyway.

I wanted the Amigos gone 2-3 years earlier than it happened, Laporta came in they were gone after fleecing the club for years and years. I wanted a rebuild, here we are chasing 6 titles in 2 seasons despite so many struggles. I wanted a great manager again, we have that too in Flick. I wanted a new stadium, here it is getting finally built.

He might be a genius, luckiest guy on earth, corrupt to the bone, I don't care. All I care is good things seem to happen to the club when he's around, and bad things pile up when he isn't.

You can attribute this to whatever you want. Luck, advisors, whatever. Still... giving credit to Bartomeu of all people is pushing it a bit .

Nope... Laporta didnt feed that story.. do you have any clue?

I was as big a voice as anyone about amigos having too much power and wanting that sorted earlier when folk would argue against it.

No issues at all with it ending or Messi going. It was right thing for him and club.

Lucky Perez stepped in.

Likes of you claimed Barca squad were over rated by me and couldnt compete and needed 'hundreds of millions and years to build up'.

Likes of you thought anyone saying Xavi should go was wrong

Make out anyone who argued against that was anti Laporta/Xavi and now it happens its all about how right he got it.

Of course. For this club the ambitions are to win CLs. Not ship in 7 goals in 2 games from sides that get spanked 5-0 in the next round who are not even good enough to dominate Serie A vs sides like Napoli. We still need hundreds of millions to compete at the super-elite level.

Nothing has changed. 200m needed to sign players just the same.

Nah you claimed Barca couldnt compete with Real and were worse than some very average EPL teams at that time and would take years and hundreds of millions to compete.

Specifically when discussing Barca v Real in league that was not all about CL.

Really? We won the league vs Madrid by 10 points or so back when they were better than they are today. This is not the Madrid that was spanking EPL clubs left and right in case you didn't notice.

Yes and at start of that season you argued endlessly how Barca had next to no chance and how much better Real were..

Real got beat 5-1 on aggregate by Man City that season also.

Never ending about how over rated likes of Pedri and Dembele were etc.

Rubbish. Being 2nd favorite on paper doesn't mean you don't have a chance. Madrid won league + CL double in 2024. Of course we weren't favorites against them.

Things changed. They fucked up with transfers, lost some key players due to age, we got better, Yamal popped up, that's football.

Good thing he got Flick and Madrid were prevented from winning LaLiga last szn. And hopefully now we're on track to doing that this szn as well.

Laporta got lucky with Flick, because this was not an appointment based on a plan, but on whims and 'insticts'.

Thankfully, Perez still runs the presidential-Galactico model at Madrid, and that prevents them from building a steady team that would dominate domestically. They could do it given their financial power over us.

That doesn't whitewash the fat clown for all his shortcomings.
He was elected in 2021 with big promises, and now we are getting into elections again and we are STILL NOT in the 1:1, despite him promising it EVERY transfer window so far (sometimes not even promising, but merely straighout LYING that 'we are in the 1:1')

Every word I wrote there is correct about Laporta.
Everyone should think of it seriously given the upcoming elections

You claimed some of us were massively over rating Barca by having them as slight favourites and argued even Atletico better I am sure.

Go fish and look it up. I don't trust your memory of things. You guys were spouting nonsense about how great our squad is to trash Xavi. Probably had something to do with it.

Aye exactly the nonsense you claimed at time... took folk as who said was close and Barca maybe slight favs as 'anti Xavi'.

Then Barca win and you say 'look what Xavi did'.

Usual.

@serghei, while discussing Xavi's replacement, you said that you can't expect titles and playing well without hundreds of millions.

Flick comes and delivers.

Nothing wrong in being wrong. I doubted Flick too.

But now you are saying we should expect the Champions league.

I missed the part where we spent those hundreds of millions.

Aye, btw, our squad is still not good enough to compete vs top 3-4 sides. So... despite recent improvements, that step is still not reached. We'd still be underdogs vs top EPL sides, PSG, Bayern.

Just that Madrid dropped too. That's the only difference. Arsenal moved up though into the top 3-4 sides in their place.
