The key pieces to the club‘s success are here in Xavi & Joan. Laporta hired well before and no reason to question he can do it again going forward

Future is bright with excellent leadership

Last time around he had Txiki for 7 years and Ferran Soriano for five years or so before he resigned as his SD and CEO.

Whomever he hires next for those roles need to stay until the end of his term. Cannot keep burning executives because if you do that's a bad sign and not exactly the sign of excellent leadership.

And he need to stay away from decisions on who to sign and keep his lackeys away too. The reason for our success in his first term was him trusting fully in Txiki and letting him do his job and very rarely interfering.

The best run teams in Europe don't have a new SD/CEO every other year like we've had for like the last 5-7 years now.

Roque I think his name is, the financial guy is also very important, seems to be the driving force behind a lot of our financial moves.

I think the writing on the wall is already there, that one will not last long if they don't see eye to eye with Laporta or don't subject themselves (professional opinions, directions etc.) to him. It is concerning that many people have left no more than 2 years after him taking office.

He might trust Deco and place all his faith in him due to their personal relationship.

Hopefully for us Deco is more Txiki who also had little experience when he took the job rather than Eric Abidal.....

I think you were referring to Eduard Romeu? He appears to be a very smart guy for the most part (wasn't impressed with his wishy washy response regarding what the funding for Espai Barça entails). He was or still is (?) the VP of Audax, and his boss at Audax, the president, José Elías was initially one of the folks who helped Laporta put in money in a pot for the guarantees he needed to run for the president, resigned from his position from the Espai Barça oversight committee citing differences with Laporta. He even went out saying he wouldn't have helped Laporta's campaign if he had known what he knows today. So there is definitely tension between him and Laporta, which could mean that Romeu might leave too one day.

What are the credentials of Deco to deserve the job of SD at Barca?
The problem with Laporta is that he thinks he will always hit the jackpot out of nowhere.
That happens once in a lifetime, and if he thinks this is valid strategy to govern Barca
he should be OUT ASAP

D20 Sports Management, the Dublin-registered sports agency run by former Barcelona and Chelsea football star Deco, recorded a profit last year of about €300,000, according to recently filed accounts. D20’s highest profile client is Liverpool winger Fabinho, who this summer moved to Liverpool for £39 million. Its directors include Deco and Dublin accountant Andy Quinn, who is also a director of the Dublin arm of Gestifute, the agency run by football superagent Jorge Mendes.

From February 2022

Mateu Alemany, the sports adviser and director of international football, Jordi Cruyff, and the sports vice president and right hand of Joan Laporta , Rafa Yuste . These would be the ones in charge of matters related to the first team and, together with Xavi himself, they would decide both the renewals and the hiring.

However, Barça's sports management has a new member . An old acquaintance of the Barca fans called Deco . The Brazilian already traveled to Bilbao last January on the occasion of the Cup tie. He had been negotiating for some time to return to the Catalan club and the initial idea was for him to be an adviser to the Brazilian market, although he will ultimately be the fifth man in the sports management, a suspicious and inappropriate appointment to say the least due to his status as a footballer's agent . It is true that he has not signed yet, but the intention is for him to do so and, in fact, he is already in Brazil working for Barça.

I think Deco has enough football business expertise in talent identification and negotiation to transition to the SD role. But as Andre Cury said, he can't be our SD and continue to be a sports agent, there is a conflict of interest. Though I read that he is close to finalising the sale of D20 (whether it is put in the name of someone else and he still is involved is another question).

Seems his involvement has been with the club at a board level for a while now though. And of course, the big red flag is how close he and Laporta have been with Mendes, and the fear that not all dealings would be purely for the good of the team.

Overmars still has a bad rep after his Ajax stint? Remember a lot of people wanting him before that scandal emerged.

Saw he's at Royal Antwerp now as a technical director.

Edit: Seems like he had a mild heart attack a while ago and now his heart is '45 percent dead' as he says himself.

Bojan Krkić is one of the names to reinforce Barça's sports area for next season. They want to incorporate him and guide youngsters who are coming up from La Masia. @gerardromero
