Guy is 34. These are the decisions we have to make to avoid a TS situation repeat.

we can’t have it both ways. Bitch when old player on high wages leaves. Bitch when old player on high wages stays. We should be getting rid of players at a certain age to ensure a manageable wage structure and a competitive team.

Orherwise we end up with old Busi, Alba, etc. They leave and we still pay for them. 🤣👍🏻

Year the strategy was clearly right, no long contracts.

Plan A: few months ago: Sell Araujo - tens of millions
Plan B: End of the season: Sell Martin - get 5-10
Plan C: This summer: Sell Christensen for anything
Plan D(eco): week from start of the season: Lose best defender for free. :clown:

At least we're distracted for a while from Ter Stegen, stadium, 1:1, Gavi-Fermin stories. :popcom:
Thought you said AC is our best defender?

Good for him, time to make bank.

He had a good season, but nothing out of the ordinary. I'd rather have Kounde at CB, with Cubarsi/Araujo for the other spot. Get Dummfries on the cheap until we find some better player.

Any money is good money
Nothing is free in this world
Even 5mil is something
Even 500k is good, but it is what it is. He's no superstar and probably asked the club to leave so he can cash out in Saudi for life.

Of course by letting him go on a free we no longer have to pay his outstanding wages.

Virtually irreplaceable in Hansi’s team, what a surprisingly strong signing he was on/off the pitch

He will be missed

Naive to think his departure is not linked to Mats issue, hard to believe it came this late otherwise

Yeah, Inigo Martinez makes life changing decisions based on whether Ter Stegen gets de-registered or not. You must of been top of your fucking class mate.

"His move was made possible through a clause in his contract, which allowed him to leave if a club from the Arab League came in with a substantial offer.

Barcelona respected this clause and did not stand in his way, understanding the personal and financial benefits the deal represented for the player."

His fitness level also regressed in 2025. He had that run of like 17 games at the end of 2024 where he played almost every single minute. In 2025 he didn't play more than 3 games in a row.

He did very well last season and it probably took a lot of effort from his side to keep that level, now he feels it's not worth it when there's a lot of money offered from Saudi to relax.

I agree with this. I think we got the best out of him.
