Think he's trying to move further away from the typical Barca style of play. He doesn't believe in controlling games by passing it around.

He wants to make it more similar to modern Bayern style of play.

I support Flick. He has the right ideas but absolutely the wrong players to execute them. It's clear he wants a more aggressive, direct approach but these pussies are risk averse and this shows up in the cl.

You would call other coaches bum because of team's weak intensity.

And he was outclassed by a Pep's school of football. Not once but twice already this season (Lucho before).

Hmm interesting.
Pep himself is moving away from his old style of Football.

Dude built the team around Haaland and Donnarumma, two player profiles he would never touch 10 years back.

I think people undersell the physical component of the great Barca teams we had in the past, and somehow forged an image in their heads where we were frail physically but magically stood toe to toe with the strongest physical sides because we were so gifted technically.

Very not so. Yes we were extremely gifted techincally like no side before or after, but players did not shy away from physical duels and were at a very high physical level, hence the doping conspiracies paraded around by EPL fans at the time.

We were a team full of mature players that many were physical beasts. Like Puyol, Eto'o, Messi, Alves, Abidal, Yaya Toure for a brief period, Mascherano. And players full of stamina and energy like Xavi, Pedro. Outside of maybe Pique and Busi who were on the slower side, the entire squad was very fit and fast, with several key players in multiple compartments being outstanding in these areas.

Some of our physical issues are tied to playing many underdeveloped teenagers. Others are due to poor player selection, thin squad, not enough rotation due to it, some due to not enough physical training etc.

Most things take a while to change, but for now, we need to stop signing unathletic players like Torres and Olmo, just because they are Spanish and somewhat perceived as superior technically. All of this goes away in an instant if they get overpowered physically vs bigger sides.

I don't mind Flick words about dynamic and being slow but I heard words all the time, like Araujo: we will learn, when? We are never agin wining CL with this type of football and we risk huge hammering with defensive line.

Yo guys Hansi did everything he could to to rescue the match, stupid Araujo destroyed his whole plan.

Also dont forget no Rashy, no Raphi, no Pedri. 2/3 key starters of the team.

This defence is just too bad for high class football, normally of them would play in a 2nd tier club. So with 10 men i would lower the high line so the low IQ of these defenders dont get exposed too much!

Just rewatching the game. They surprised us very badly on corners. We assumed they will try to cross the ball into the box, but they executed many short passes on corners and worked the flank in wild superiority scenarios.

Both the 1st goal and the goal that was disallowed early on for hand ball came from short corners and working 3 vs 2 overloads. Too many people in the box marking nobody.

This is first disallowed goal, 3rd minute or so. Short corner, we overcomit bodies in the box while Chelsea build wild superiority on the flank. I mean I don't understand this. Maresca is one of Pep's students and Pep often played corners short. How didn't we see this coming?

Funny thing is Cucurella is placed exactly as he is on the first goal. Onside as well, asking the ball unmarked by anyone. In this play, Neto crossed instead.

This is the 1st goal. Nearly identical. Neto, Estevao and Cucurella doing what they want following a short corner. While we assume they will play like a typical EPL side and smash a cross while putting bodies in the box. Didn't do enough studying of Chelsea apparently.

Fermin and De Jong both rush towards Neto. Another stupid thing.

One triggers the press, and one cuts the best pass option. Neither cuts the pass to Cucurella. Both approach Neto on the wrong trajectory and fail to close a simple but very dangerous pass. If they assume he will be in offside, that's even worse.

Normally, Fermin does the press to block Neto (and should not be a full press, should be just a press to lock him from advancing, not a press to dispossess him, which is another tactical issue for us), and De Jong immediately closes the pass channel to Cucurella. Then Neto most likely passes the ball back to Estevao. Problem solved.
