We were getting outplayed after the own goal. I don't know what game you guys were watching. Do you remember the chat in first 20 minutes? Everybody was saying we play well. Should have been 1-0 up, and Fermin also had some good opportunities in final third

After the own goal, team completely lost focus and maybe they would stabilize if another shock didn't arrive thanks to our captain
Thought on Maresca move Estevao into central more to recieve the ball between the line, create numerical superior against Barca pivots while Yamal is instructed to hug the touchline with zero support and always facing opponent's denfender???

Do you like this vision?

Chelsea put pressure but not much apart from that. Shots on target read 1-2 for a good while. Red floored us. Very similar to PSG game. Dominated, but until the red we were in the game and looking dangerous when we broke through.

Games of football depend on details sometimes. Torres scores for 1-0, we don't get down to 10, and it's an entirely different match.

Barca were not dominating before the red tonight.

So what if we were getting outplayed. It's a tough game away. Getting outplayed for portions in the match is probably expected. It's what you do under that pressure that defines the match. And the weak members of the team folded like a deck of cards.

Olmo is a better player than Fermin when fit.,

Fermin second striker and tazmanian devil works at times and v dross but he does not have a single clue how to slow game down and progress it up the park in tight games when need that.

Chelsea pressured us 100% after the red card. It's very rare to see GOAT safe passer Frenkie playing out of his comfort zone tonight.

CL is definitely out of reach, but we should try to avoid a beatdown in KOs. That's unacceptable.
Things can change quickly. Remember PSG in fact almost fell out of the group stage last season.

The question is will we make the necessary reflections and lineup/tactical changes.

How many times have we had the first goal scorerd against us and we just push forward and overwhelm the team.

That's what would have happened today,it works both ways.

We weren't able to play the ball out or build any form of attack.

The miss goal while important is just an scapegoat to cover that Chelsea were better than us in all areas of the field 11 V 11.

I might get crapped on for saying this, but I genuinely think this Chelsea side has a better overall squad than any other team this season. FFS, they were missing arguably their best player and still could slot in at least two players for him with very minimal drop in quality.

I could see them going very far in the CL this season, most likely semis. Maresca does a good job of increasing the intensity in the big ties.

Tonight was not on Flick.

Don't try to scapegoat him on a night like this

The result isn't on him entirely. Still, I would like to see us change our approach in certain situations and not be so predictable. A degree of pragmatism would be useful at times.

They weren't better than us at clear chances to score until the red. They dominated but we were in the game and creating chances ourselves.

The team lacks players than can play ball out from back and also lack pace 1v1 up top.

Both PSG and Chelsea exposed that big time and targetted it.

They both shut off balls by man marking midfield. Show ball to full backs and also Araujo.

There is no early long ball to get past it either or player at AM that can take it to feet and get game up park.

choosing araujo is by default a mistake and I am pretty sure he won't make it again. its not like we are stacked with great defenders either.

At least as far as md and attack is concerned, he didn't have other fit players mate.
Simple as that

Now, if you wanna argue Christensen should have played instead of Araujo, I will hear that, but that's a limited discussion

PS: Chelsea show up in big games. Review all their big games under MAresca to see that
First of all, these issues have been here even with Pedri this season. Even buildup, especially on that damned left side. Second of all, Pedri and DeJong are terrible off the ball and I seriously think the long term future is with one of them out of it. This season to me they contribute to our inability to actually defend well as a team.

We lack several things. A strong midfielder is another. Raphinha is gonna be different compared to a physically weak player like Torres.

Olmo was a terrible transfer for us.

If you think any player out of Pedri, Fermin, Olmo, Frenkie are anywhere near as physical as Caicedo - Enzo duo for example, that would be hilarious.
