Defence has been a joke all season. Just that Joan saved a few of the goals that Woj let in.

Can't have an offside line without anyone leading the line.

I think this is a trademark of Flick ball. Abysmal defending is his calling card, the flaw everyone knows. I checked out the Bayern forums. Most got used to it, they said Bayern could concede 2-3 goals to the worst sides of Bundesliga at any point. It's the same with us. Most frustrating entertaining ball possible is how Bayern fans put it, and it fits Flick to a T.

At this point, it's useless to demand Flick to change his ways. We can only hope the offense is so well drilled as to carry the defense, or call it a day and move past Flick. If we do move past Flick, one bad season is not enough to lose hope in him. We can bounce back next year even if we suck this year, provided Flick doesn't implode with all the pressure he might get.

This is what I've been saying, check is goals conceded with Bayern with a back four tailor made for his type of football, the type of defenders everyone here says we need to be better defense, it didn't help him at Bayern, it would help him now.

They key was the keeper and we have one now in Garcia, he and the club correctly identified what is the most important key in our back line, a great shot stopper.

The man will conceded goals no matter who he has in defense, a natural by product of his tactics, which is fine as long as he knows he can adapt to close out games

Never expected Munster to be so good at football.

But I guess the only way United could improve was to give their Premier League slot to another team.

ffs why won’t no one listen. Raphinha’s km’s covered is what is hugely missed.

Even if we had lost form, we would substantially be better with his workrate.

Fermin and Gavi's too. Spoke about it weeks ago. In a system heavily relying on press we missed 3 guys who press the most.

Gavi was more or less a non entity last season and pressing not missed this.

Even with Fermin and Raphinha in team it hasnt been great this season really and teams breaking too often.

The structure of it is off and teams have adapted. It was happening at end of last season with them also.

Inter scored 3 and 4, Real scored 3 in Barcelona, Atletico scored 4 in Barcelona, Villareal scored 3 etc.

Not arguing the structure point, but with Raphinha and likes of Fermin you increase chances of winning ball higher up which:

1) Cuts back the times opponent has to attack your goal
2) Creates more chances for Barca.

In theory yes but not been the way this season when played really and Barca were conceding a ton with them last season also.

So it is being over played a bit.

The issues Barca have are all over park and teams being wiser to the set up.

Not long ago folk were claiming Barca were defending better this season and a bit deeper.. didnt see that at all.

It was the case against sociedad and PSG.

Seem to be trying to rely on offside trap again since Sevilla.

PSG dominated the ball a lot more to point they were not breaking as much and Barca didnt defend well that game.

PSG broke the offside trap to score the winner.

Sociedad Barca pushed high/played offside trap in same way did last season.

Man, fixing this is going to be a herculean task.
Imo if we beat Madrid, than our biggest issue is motivation. If we lose than it's simply because the high line has run it's course and Flick needs to improvise.
Alot of people here want attacking, entertaining football but don't realise that this football will always leave you open to the counter.
Having big gaps in certain positions doesn't help. Cubarsi needs to see the bench. I'd go with Christensen, Araujo or Kounde as CB s. Kounde has been shit at rb this season anyway. In the double pivot we need a proper physical DM. That's non negotiable. How many times do we see Pedri or Casado being bullied?
Despite injuries last season we seemed to be in much better physical condition. Im not sure what happened this season but we look alot slower. Girona cutting us apart at will was a disturbing sight indeed.
