Barcelona boss Hansi Flick is reportedly considering making a tactical change to his team after overseeing defeats to Paris Saint-Germain and Sevilla.

A new report from Mundo Deportivo claims that Flick is thinking about moving Marcus Rashford to the No. 9 position in a bid to improve his team’s pressing from the front.

Flick and his coaching staff think that some of their current issues stem from a lack of “pressing well and intensity from the front line” - something Pau Cubarsi stated after the defeat to Sevilla.

The Barcelona boss wants to continue with the system he’s used so far, and is confident given their success last season, but knows some changes are needed to get the team back on track.

We need at least 3 out of the front 4 to press relentlessly, and the 4th to press substantially if not relentlessly

Top pressers we have up front:
1) Raphina
2) Fermin
3) Ferran
Lamine can press if in the mood but you can't rely.
Rashford has the intention to adjust to Flickball, but he hasn't (so far) put in the necessary effort
Olmo is underwhelming there
Granny tractor can't move

At the same time, this has to be balanced with attacking quality. in attacking quality we have
1) Lamine, goes without saying
2) Rashford who can score out of nowhere
3) Raphina
Lewa, Fermin, and Ferran below
Currently Olmo doesn't feature at all there.

Where does this leave Flick, if he wants to balance both intense pressing and enough quality?

1) Lamine is indispensible if fit, goes without saying
2) Raphina is our best presser, has to be there

Then the other two positions are there for grabs depending on who plays better and who is fit.
Lewa is out of the question for the big games, because he can't move
Olmo in his current form is out of the question too

Then you have Rashford, Ferran, Fermin for the 2 positions
Given only Rashy of them has attacking quality, and you can't afford having 2 players of lesser attacking quality, THeN
3) Rashford has to play

But if that happens, since you already have both Lamine and Rashford with subpar pressing playing, you need a relentless presser for the 4th position.

So, Flick really has 2 options ahead of him:
-Lamine-Fermin-Rapha
----------Rashy
(or a variation of it with Rashy LW and Rapha up front)

OR
-Lamine-Rapha-Rashy
----------Ferran

I think we will see both in the upcoming games.

Very good post. I agree one of those 2 should be our starting front 4

We need to look at what's happening with our phyios,

All of a sudden we are picking injuries all over the field.

Actually it's been happening since the end of last season, adjustments needs to be made.

Raphinha does not have the rafinament and technical quality to play where there's permanent heavy traffic. He's a runner, and those play on the wing. He couldn't play as a central attacker unless you sit back and play on the counter.

LW and back up RW are his best positions. Might as well play Rashford up top. His poor errratic pressing is less costly there.

His 2 goals vs Newcastle came from no9 position.

Raphinha is best either on the flanks or at 10. Playing as 9 would be a waste. Rash might work but it depends. He is good in the air and can make runs in behind.

Could be that most of our players are technically brilliant but they are not athletes, like Kounde, Valverde or Tchouaméni for example. Frenkie, Pedri, Olmo etc are high iq players but they break down easily. Maybe that could be the reason.

He is so ******. We needed more signings this summer and didn't get those. We must make some signings in January. It's a must at this point. We have so many clear weaknesses. They must be plugged.

The bad luck is actually insane.

Fermin: Injured in the last minute of the game

Joan Garcia: Presumably injured in the last few minutes of the game. Not confirmed, but he didn't get injured in training it was reported later by everyone

Lamine: Injured first with Spain, returned and got a relapse of the same injury again

Ferran: Injured with Spain

Olmo: Injured with Spain

Lewandowski: Injured with Poland

What the fuck is this shit?

Instead in Montjuic we should play our home games in hospital stadium!

We said same January last year and we signed nobody. I don't think we can do it this year either. We'll probably be facing top teams in later stages of the CL with some random kids from third division filling the crucial positions where all other top clubs have world class footballers , much like last season. Truly fascinating squad planning. This is what they call giving chances for the youth.
