But he's our backup goalkeeper, so we have to live with it

Rashford did well, yes. But that doesn't mean Raphinha was not missed. Raphinha is the most direct and energetic player on the team, presses the most and is not afraid to shot. That's what we lacked today. And if we had Rashford to pull from the bench in those dying minutes instead of Lewandowski who can't run, it would probably help.

These are no excuses. We played bad and we lost. But it's unfair to picture it like "PSG had all their starters out we were full strength and still lost". The situation was completely different. Absences wise we were approximately equal in disadvantages. But for the fact PSG managed to use them better than we did, there are no excuses indeed.

At no point did I say PSG have all their starters out, don't debate if you're going to use words to shade what I said.

The had 5 starters missing and one playing with a knock,.that's all facts.

Even if I give you our 3, that's still 2.5 an almost 100% advantage to us as it relates to injured and missing players. And we weren't missing all the starters from one section of our team like they were and playing away from home.

Yet the completely dominated us for 65 minutes.

Barcola isn't a starter for PSG anymore in big games, which a game vs Barcelona certainly is.

Key of the game is they pressed better a worse backline than we did a better one. Having 2 wingers who think of themselves as stars made this a really bad match-up for us.

All of the PSG players gave a very good effort. Nobody had to run extra to cover for laziness. Means all of their players were fresh.

Luis Enrique benched Dembele in the early games of the past season not because he somehow lost his speed. He benched him at first because he was not giving enough effort. When pressing is the only plan you have, it better be pretty damn great.

Ours was often terrible, spotty as shite.

Alves (especially), Alba / Abidal
Lahm/ Alaba
Marcelo/ Carvajal

Mendes/ Hakimi.

You overwhelm the midfield and flanks this way if you have the top ones.

This. didnt get the Araujo snub. He's prone to the occasional brainfart or two but I felt he would have been better. Christensen is too slow.

Think Araujo would have been a disaster though next to Kounde.

If anything, perhaps the play would have been Araujo at RB for a bit more physicality and pace.

Or Eric RB with Araujo centre.

But basically our lack of pace and lack of ball playing either/or across the line couldn't counter the PSG press of 8.
