Btw, looking at Flick ball, it's more likely for the system to carry a not so great attacker due to the amount of players we bring in every attack around the player with the ball, than a not very good CB. Fix the CB and the LB back-up and we kick up a level. I'm sure about this.
Torres is the best example. He would be useless in a more conservative system where he has to keep the ball for a bit, and wrestle with defenders until the support joins him. That's his weakest quality and why he won't ever work as a 9 for a more defensive side.
But under Flick ball, he is always surrounded by several players left and right, so he basically doesn't have to show much quality in hold up play.
For me it's worrying that Inigo Martinez looked the best CB in the team last season. He showed vs Inter he is not that great, but the ones around him are even worse. Old Inigo Martinez with near zero experience in big games SHOULD NOT be your best natural defender. The team is screaming for a top quality complete CB. If we spend 60-70m on one player these days, that profile needs to be signed.
The problem vs Inter is not that we didn't score 8-10 goals, but that we conceded 7 from a team that barely attacked us.
