I was hoping you help me with some hidden reason I'm missing.

I know what is the reason. The reason is overachievement is short lived and always pushes back. Flick pushed these players to the absolute max last season, and now we deal with burnout.

The way to limit this burnout is a deep squad filled with quality players. So your main players do not end up playing 1500 to 2000 more minutes than equivalent wingers in other big teams.

More than last season without doubt. Things will get worse as we approach the usual 3 year term of a manager at the club. This was always supposed to be the case. Improvement with Flick, but not anywher near to the very top as some hope.
