He overachieved last season and now fans expect a treble with a mid squad and garbage defense. Players like Martin and Araujo are Elche level players.

Not to mention Lewa now being expired. When he came he was still world class but with a ticking clock.

We haven't replaced him so we are dearly missing a star striker that we really need, I like Ferran but he shouldn't be leading Barcelona's attack.

That's the sad thing.

This is all just a fantasy.

The reason it's taking so long to recover is due to mismanagement over an entire decade and not just because of wasted money on likes of Coutinho, Griezmann and co.

It's the biggest issue with Barcelona's ownership model. A lack of accountability with a third neutral party overseeing that a board and President don't mismanage the club's funds.

it's not only bartomeu and rosell doing it.

laporta was infamous for wasting the club's money on strippers and shit like that from 2003 to 2010 as well, it's why so many people left his side. smart people who have gone on to work for elite clubs elsewhere. and then there's a question of why his ex-wife's brother echeverria is so involved within the club now despite not having any official role.

it's deep rooted issue and one that no one cares to try to rectify because they all misuse it for their own benefit.

basically corruption. obviously there's various degrees of corruption. some are far worse than others. every leader in history have more or less been corrupt. does that mean they hate the entity they rule over and don't love it? not necessarily.

but its greed and power and just how it is sadly.

Let's not pretend sacking Flick is gonna somehow make us favorites for titles. Overachieving is all you can do with this squad. There's never any sufficient quality or depth to be a favorite for anything.

But mental exhaustion and pressure is a thing at this club, and after a while you see things going from bad to worse, you still have to shake hands, thank the manager, and move on.

A big manager won't come here that's for sure. Exclude that from the start. First let's hope this is just something we can recover from, and not an implosion that is gonna spill over and get so bad that it will ruin the entire season.

I don't think we are anywhere close to 'handshake' point yet though. We're 2 points behind in the league and finished top8 in the CL group stage.


Under current constraints winning a major title every 2 seasons is enough to ask for so one trophyless season, if it is (which I don't think so, there is tons of football left to be played) is not enough to sack a manager.
