But the team has obvious issues that are being created by the coach, that he doesn't seem to know how to solve because he only knows one way of playing.

What exactly do you propose? With the current squad, I genuinely don’t see any tactical setup that would significantly improve our performance. Despite the loss yesterday, there were clear signs of progress. Contrary to the general negativity here, I’m actually optimistic about the next fixtures, the team is showing better structure

Firstly this isn't anything new here it's literally been said by everyone in football at this point, if the press is no longer working for whatever reason, could be a few the end result is that's it's not working as it did last season.

Adjust your line to help with additional defensive solidity.

As the players start coming back & the pressing improves, you switch back to your default.

Rest pedri more regular when games are one since he is key to how the team ticks

It's realistic to expect the team wont win anything with this squad.

I think most reasonable people would agree that this team overachieved last season but apart of that reason for overachievement is because we drove that starting XI into the ground last year. Something we are seemingly paying for this year with the amount of injuries and fitness issues.

Even looking at the team from last season, a blind man would even say the most important area to improve was defence, and that was WITH Inigo in the team.

This team isn’t going to be competing with the best until we sign two new starting fullbacks, a starting CB, a ST. Keep in mind we need to sign a LW on next years budget as well whether it be Rashford or someone else….Yeah not a realistic at all.

Laporta and Deco are gonna need to make some decisions or ultimately risk losing Flick and unless they can get Pep, Lucho or Klopp, they are going to have a hard time finding a manager who is going to get a lot of out a team as thin as this one. Big trouble ahead if things aren’t addressed.

There's only so much a manager can do with this squad against better teams. Sure, this doesn't mean getting outplayed by likes of Sevilla and Rayo is acceptable, and Flick himself has been poor this season no doubt... but it is normal to have a poorer season after a top one when you have a thin squad.

It is difficult to rack up titles under these conditions.

Araujo looks decent if he is not pressed. Madrid did a fair amount of pressing at the start. He would have been bad also considering that aspect. However, Cubarsi is constantly shite. Might as well give Araujo a run of 3-4 games.

Team needs 4-5 starters soon. 2 CBs, one fullback, one DM, and soon a no9.

Everyone hopes some magic manager comes and makes all of these players top class.

All we can reasonably hope atm is overachieve in a season and pay the price in the next one in mental and physical burnout.

There is a limit for many players. Even Raphinha who is our best player is not normally a 50+ goals and assists contributor on season by season basis.

I would take AM over CDM. Someone who can create, be part of the build up & pressing, and healthy.
Basically Olmo if he was healthy and in form, but he isn't healthy or in form.

I'd take DM and sell one of Olmo or Fermin. Flick played double pivot at Bayern but one of those midfield 2 was Goretzka who was built like a tank. Neither of our midfield 2 possesses those physical qualities. The 2 man midfield we have with De Jong and Pedri is lightweight to put it mildly.

Ideally we'd have someone like Rodri paired with De Jong in a double pivot and Pedri more advanced with a smaller area to cover. Btw, Rodri despite being a DM, was no slouch going forward at times 2-3 years ago pre ACL. Was more like a total package in midfield.

Last summer I said those are the priorities in that order & laporta & deck agreed.

We got 2/5

Now we need the other 3 next summer or two of the 5 again.

I DM would also be great but that's not happening. A proper DM would take us up a tick

To be fair Pedri and FDJ were the two players who had the most tackles/interceptions yesterday on the pitch and only Tchou had more recoveries than Frenkie.

Not bad when had more of the ball.

Frenkie was everywhere yesterday.. loose on the Bellingham goal but very little chance can stop it even if was with him.

Only the keeper is a proper signing. Rashford is another stop gap like Felix or Cancelo before. Nothing new. He will probably be shipped back, which he should be.

The rhythm is way too slow. At this rate, by the time we fix the squad properly, Raphinha will be 33 and De Jong 31 lol.

There is no Rodri in the market. The best that was there was Zubi who wouldn't have improved our starting line up that much. There are bigger chance to improve the AM area while hoping that Bernal could develop into that tank CDM. He has the length for it, and could evolve physically for it.

But in anyway, midfield is the last area to reinforce, it could use help but defense and attack are more pressing needs. Unlikely we have the funds for either to even think about midfield.

I agree it's tough to land a top DM. It's easier to get a CM-AM but that player to work will need to be far stronger than Olmo. More like Merino. Or like Goretzka was. Or Fabian Ruiz. Someone with physical presence off the ball. Not a softer technical AM.

Barcas best players are Pedri, Frenkie, Yamal and Raphinha.

Players need to be brought in to make all of their lives easier and a clear plan of a team built for them.

Flick is trying it.
