The entire play fell apart when Cubarsi was entirely too high trying to press Vitinha, I think. When he ran back to his position, Balde had to move back to RB; the entire defense was broken and out of possession.

Just a shit show.

Don't disagree with the pressing correctly theory, just saying that specific goal was down to Cubarsi if we want the entire play.

And you think you can micro manage players' individual actions throughout every single second of a football match? Did Flick instruct those 4 players in the circle not to press the ball carrier?

As I wrote before, we have 4 players who can be considered world class at the moment. One did not play (and is also the best presser in the team), the other is an 18 year old returning from injury (and is injured again) who isn't known to be world class for his defensive moments anyway and then 2 midfielders who were gassed in the 90th minute (one of them not even on the pitch anymore). So you have a bunch of non-world class players taking non-world class decisions at that moment. No rocket science. It happens. You can lose matches to other top top teams, especially when you open your mouth about being the best and give them additional motivation to smack you.

4 considered world class at barcelona?
How many would you consider world class at PSG? Full team not just who played the other day.
I am going with 0.

Except the manager.
He is world class.

I find it good that we lost by the way. It's an unimportant game early in the season all things considered and if we somehow smacked them now and faced them later they'd give 200 % additionally to set that result straight. But now we are in the position to prove something if we face them later. We'll easily be much better later in the season in this match up, unless big injuries happen.

No, but he's supposed to fix these issues, especially as they happen often. If he can't, maybe it's time he doesn't ask Balde and Cubarsi to venture off position by 60-70m in the last minute vs PSG.

All those non world class players for PSG sure made the right decisions after the 27th minute lol.

We need how many WC players to the WC?

You don't get many points for simply trying to play something. You have to play it well. Proper implementation is key. If you can't implement it using the personnel you have, your plan is not great vs big teams. The best plan is the one you can pull off, not the one you dream to pull off. You only achieve an ambitious failure.

I think it can be translated simpler to an old saying, don't bite more than you can chew.

Chances happen by default is correct, chances happening as often as they do and at the quality they occur is systematic considering our position as a team. My problem as I stated before, is the regularity. You think it's a coincidence that we concede chances the same exact way to any TEAM all the time. The celta vigo comeback last season was emblematic of what I'm referencing now for example or the Dortmund game or the Inter game. This specific issue has been happening for a long time, we concede chances/ goals either through set pieces or a switch of play and cross across the box, or a deep run. Acknowledging that these things will happen isn't the problem obviously, it is how often. You just have a higher chance of actually being punished by higher level opposition. Our bad period coincided with Lamine being injured, which is a whole other topic in itself but I digress. I refuse to just accept how often we concede the same types of chances because I have standards and an ambition to overcome the regularity of those conceded chances to allow for Barca to get over the hump.
Another goal conceded the same exact way we always concede them.😄

Considering we had no Balde or Lamine, a win vs Newcastle any way how is good, but we still are having problems with switches of play and deep runners. If it weren't for Joan, a more clinical team would have had us down about 2 after the first 20 minutes. The same issues are still here from last year and I'm losing hope that they'll ever go away. Our pressing while better against Newcastle, still not up to the level it was at last season. I'm happy we won but I can't leave that game satisfied.
Pressing still a problem

Inigo was the best defender by a long shot.

Everyone knew this. He might not have been one of the world's elite CB, but he was by far the best at this club.

Absolute lunacy to let him leave for free and not sign anyone.
