It's early in the season. Players have recognized that they need to play with a lot more intensity and focus. Lamine, Frenkie, Joan Garcia said so after the match and also said we didn't deserve more than one point either.

Would also like him to make some adjustments in away games like this defensively.

That said we probably have the worst defence out of all the top teams in Europe. CBs in particular. I don't think a single CB of ours make it to the starting lineup of the biggest challengers for the CL.

Cubarsi has been very poor since January(yes i know he is very young). Christensen can barely stay healthy half the time and is good, but nothing special. Araujo we all know every team will press because they know he'll fuck up when he is under pressure. The less said about Eric Garcia the better.
Defence is poor imo. You're right, none of the CBs or full-backs are anywhere near good enough for one of the CL big players. Maybe Cubarsi will be as he matures.

Though part of it is how he sets up. He could get them tighter defensively, but it would also come at the cost of far fewer goals than the loads scored last season.

Barca though since Cruyff have never been a club who set up shop and try to win 1-0 or 2-0. It sounds like the team is still conceding chances off his tactics, which is worrying.

We lack intensity in pressing, that is the biggest issue atm.
Out defenders were bad, Inigo is a mediocre defender, not some saviour, our style was purely attacking but the team pressed like their life was dependent on it.
No pressing and you leave the opponents open gates to your goalie.

Either get better defenders (not happening) or get back to pressing like maniacs

My bet would be the press was fucked by Barca trying to play more direct.

Barca were going through Garcia so often and hitting ball early to front players who were heading into the channel. Then when it broke down there was not the numbers there to press as a team.

It then came back so quickly from Rayo who hoofed it up and wide at every opportuity.

The pitch 100% dictated how Barca tried to play and they were not pressing as a unit because of it.. and players looked a step off also.

Flick: "The most important thing is that when the transfer market closes, everyone is 100% committed to this team. No egos because egos kill success. Last season we played as a team, as one unit, and we have to go back to this."

Now that's one hell of a quote.

Sounds like there's some players that need to get their shit together.

I know it wasn't the full lineup, but Rayo played Thursday. We should have been pressing them how they were pressing us.

Bigger picture though, this has been a growing team from Iraola to now Perez. Not an easy game at all and be nice if LaLiga allows these teams a little to invest so they can grow their quality more every year. No reason why a Rayo or Getafe can't become a Villarreal level club.

Defense last year was not too good to begin with but started to get worse and worse as the season progressed leaking more and more goals as time passed, even that shit Madrid team scored 5 ( FIVE ) in the last two Clasicos and Inter surpassed them with 7 ( SEVEN ) in two matches.

Now the defense is even worse without Inigo and with Cubarsi shitting the bed even against La Liga mid/lower table teams.

I don't see Barca doing better in CL this season, not even in LL.

True

For example Raphinha was selfish on that first chance. If passed it to Ferran we would have early lead. Then Lamine demanding the pen from much more experienced Raphinha. Things that last season we couldnt even imagine happening

Dont think Lamine demanded the pen.

Its ineviable the best attacking player starts to take them and wouldnt think Flick finds that an issue.

So true. You can't play this high like and not press. Simply won't work.
