I actually kind of expected that to happen. Going to Munich is pretty uninspiring from a neutral standpoint but probably the dream move for a large majority of German footballers.

Leverkusen asks 150m, Bayern's pain threshold is around 100m. Reports say Bayern tries sponsors to help them carry this deal. If they reach 130m + some variables, the transfer will go through. It also makes sense for Leverkusen, instead of keeping an unhappy player who will generate half that amount next summer.
Leverkusen is also an exception in Germany, as they're the team of the Bayer group, which means the economic part will be even a bit more important than in other teams. It'll depend if Bayern can convince Adidas to pitch in.

But I don't see why Bayern needs him to be honest. Because either him or Musiala needs to go on the wing and both players are not natural wingers. It'll be a record transfer for a player they don't really need. Feels a bit like the Mbappe transfer for Madrid.
And if they pay so much, they won't have much left to be able to fix problems on other positions. The only reason they rush is probably because they think it's now or never. He's on the market only once.

Looks like one of those GenZ kids who grew up admiring Pep's dream team. But alas, Barca have never been shrewd market players. Our transfer policy is surface level. Has to be primarily Spanish/Catalan or ex-academy for us to really push for it.

Barca have many other positions they need to strengthen.
Because Lolmo is hospital fc and can't be trusted to deliver when it really matters. Wirtz isn't consistent either but he's younger, and has a higher celing, and is a Barca boy at heart.
Of course he does not meet an immediate need or is he financially viable for Barca in the current context. But had Barca shown interest and held talks with him, he'd be been receptive to staying at Bayer for another year, which would then make his signing feasible.
