150M is fair price is fair for a guy who should be your starting 10 and likely best one in the league, for the next decade.
It will backfire badly of he flops, but there is no risk free deals.

In the end, the huge money Liverpool are spending as league winning team is impressive. It's something us as Barca fans can only dream of currently.

This window for them, and for City and Madrid (but less so) makes winning the CL next season seem incredibly tough. And that's not considering PSGs move.

Our bet will be as it always is, hoping that the growth of the LaMasia prodigies continues at an unparalleled rate, as it did before with Pique, Messi, Xavi, Iniesta.

150m....

Remembers me the time when Barca spent 135m on Coutinho. The club will probably spend something similar when going for a striker next year.

People would be having aneurysms up in here if we spent 150m on this guy. Especially since he is coming in to replace a 70m signing from last season who improved consistently throughout the season. ( Sboz ).

Shades of our Olmo transfer when you have Fermin sitting there.

At best, Wirtz has a slightly better season than Sboz. But he ain't replicating what he did in the Buli, up in the Prem.

At worst, he struggles in making the step up and with the pace of the league.

At 150m, you'd expect a signing to have an instant effect in bridging the gap in the Champions League. But he definitely won't do that. His movements on the ball are too slow. He needs that extra second on the ball. He is too easy to shut down if you give him attention.

All in all, a bit of a bizarre transfer.

I'm just glad he ends up at Liverpool than some other clubs - crazy figure but football money is bonkers

I've been a fan of the player for a few years, very curious to see how he continues to evolve - I believe he will become the face of the league there

Love it that they got fleeced.
Now I hope we don't fund this transfer with Diaz.

Wirtz is probably a 100m at best. And in a sane market around 70-80m.
If Olmo stays the same, I would like us to go for Sboz. He wont be happy playing second fiddle for long.

Liverpool went full Bartomeu. Let's see how it pans out.

Bartomeu at least bought a future Bdor winner.

I do find it very funny, because Liverpool fans called us many names, donkeys, idiots for wasting so much money on one player. How the world changes eh.

I don't wanna slag the guy off too much - he's never done anything to me, and he has lots of talent. But he does seem like the latest hipster wonderkid hyped out of all proportion in this current modern football climate. Some might say the same about Lamine, but as an experienced long-time football watcher it is clear Lamine is a couple of levels above this lad.

Every time I have watched Wirtz he hasn't looked that special. I tend to watch his bigger games too so that makes me raise my eyebrows. He's still young and a quality player so I don't wanna write the boy off, but spending so much on one player rarely proves successful. They could have got two really really good players for that money. I never think it's good to spend THAT much on one player. What if he doesn't settle or worse, gets injured in the first game and is out for the season? I always think it's better to spread that sort of money around the team. Rather than put eggs in a basket. In saying that, apparently they still want and have money for more signings anyway.

Yes, amortisation and everything, they have cash to spend etc, but still.

Liverpool are looking at the team who had a marvelous first half of the season, then full off thanks to lack of depth, when they faced their only true elite in-form time of the season, they lost decisively in all key areas, but the result was kind. A penalty loss.

I think they realised the next step is depth in quality to stay at the top throughout the season.

Now is 150m for Wirtz a necessary signing? Well on one hand, if they have the cash to spend and to go all out on their targets, then I guess why not. They assessed he is the best option. Sure they could quite literally get Cherki at a third of that fee, amortization and all, who is not a third of the player. But he isn't playing the off the ball system that Wirtz will, and offensively he is less robotic which may not suit Slot as much.

If after all this investment they don't retain the EPL and go further in the CL it is a failure, for sure. Atleast in the short term. I think even @Temptation would admit that.
