Curiously, none of those players from previous wins made it.

But this team I think at most 4 players have potential to make it to the first team

If we are being fair, all the starting lineup of the 2nd team has actually made it as professional footballers.
Inaki, Puig & Mingueza even had 44, 57 & 66 appearances with Barcelona first team respectively. Puig is a superstar in MLS, while Mingueza is established Liga player, Pena to follow. Chumi, Miranda Perez has good La Liga career, Ruiz, Marqués & Orellana made it in Portugal first division. Morey had injuries destroying him but if healthy he belongs to Liga, Collado is doing great in Saudi. In a way La Masia did their "moral" obligation toward those players and prepared them for a good career, although the bench players weren't as lucky.

Chelsea starting lineup had 4 players who are in England's 5th tier and another in USA 2nd tier, another 4 around Belgium, Dutch, Scotland & championship.

But Reece James, Marc Guéhi & Callum Hudson-Odoi, all who are successful EPL players to different extents.

In a way I would say La Nasia wasn't bad then, but rather producing with quantity without top quality

Plus, the reality is that if a youth player is a gem they rarely end up even playing in this tournament because they are already being considered for the 1st team

Lamine was playing UYL in 2022 at 15 before he debuted with Xavi and this after already jumping categories

I'm trying to put my hat on from the perspective of back then, and generally they were not perceived as hot generations.

1st lineup
No one across the backline and midfield was highly rated. Rodrigo Tarin was a little rated and Kaptoum was a hipster choice but clearly undersized. This was the time of Xavi/Iniesta so the standards of midfield expectation was very high.

The frontline was where we expected Adama and Munir to have an important, especially Munir with his debut games. Well, they both ended top level players. IIRC that team was basically led by the individual quality of the frontline and few expected to win the tournament.

2nd lineup
This generation had less expectation than the first. In hindsight we know that Mingueza made it to LaLiga, but he wasn't one of the most highly rated defenders at that point, though I did like him.

Only Puig was truly rated and a joy to watch but had serious questions because of his size. Abel Ruiz was rated at International youth level but never really showed it at Barca.

This generation
More expectation as it is a stronger generation though no world class talent (because the three Bernal, Cubarsi and Lamine have already arrived). Guille and Toni are the next level behind but already in B.

Diarra is the biggest talent but slightly skewed as he is a 3m signing who didn't play top level for months, should have been in the B and is adapting.

Defense no super highly rated (well Cuenca was and I think Kospo now is overtaking him), but any of the 4 could make it ala Casado imo.

Midfield, Kim is in that Riqui Puig territory of a very very good player who may end up undersized to influence his game at the top level. Or atleast at the elite level for Barca. And there is a ton of talent backlog to compete with.

Attack. Alba and Pradas not expected to make it. Juan going under the radar and probably in my estimation ends a LaLiga player at a side like Villarreal if we don't bite the bullet with him. Has solid potential though, but again, so much higher rated competition. Though Juan looked the one a few years back with Bayern looking to poach.

A lot depends on who you are asking about the perception, Barca fans or football fans in general? Maybe it is true for the later but surely not true for the former.

Ondoa, Tarin, Adama & Munir were all very highly rated, with fans talking about Sandro who was missing, Halilovic who is arriving, Deulofeu who is just a year older than this generation. Ondoa was one of the main reasons Onana left for example, Cameroon legend that one.

Kaptoum & Godswill gained hype after the tournament.

Inaki has been hyped way long before the winning team, same with Miranda, Morey, Abel (the U17 team that won Euros and played WC final) I would say Collado and Puig got hype after winning it, especially Puig. Alena who was one year older was the "chosen one" before it.

This is how we should look at it.

There is a bit of hype generated now, but with it you need to hit the breaks, it is the usual cycle: we produce some talents from La Masia, people then look at every youngster in it under the microscope, get hyped about it as they dominate other youth teams, then set ourselves for disappointment.

You can already see some fans complaining about Flick use of the academy, and how he should do better. It is still unpopular opinion but by next year I expect it to grow if he doesn't hand few more youngsters a first team squad. I've seen it with Xavi last year too.

There is now folks who expect us to be set with fullbacks because we have Landry and Torrents . I mean, that is too much to ask from the coach, isn't it?

You also make good points about how the tide changes with those prospects. Virgili wasn't highly rated before he season, now you have a guy like me hopes we can see him with first team

Cuenca was more highly rated CB, now it is Eman, and as you said, there is always the Mingueza/Casado examples, guys who made it against the odds.
The 2006/2008 team has already paid what it's due with Lamine/Cubarsi and Bernal, anything more will be just extra bonus. Most of those who got those wins are going to enjoy a successful career elsewhere, and it will still be great success for the academy.

Good post. To be honest I can't argue with any of it. I am probably being a biased too as I am inserting my personal ratings at the time and not the general fanbase consensus. Wasn't big on Ondoa for example because I always saw Onana as the bigger talent, while Inaki always lacked size for example and was mostly hyped due to saving 3 or 4 penalties in a youth shootout and it kind of retained from there.

Guys like Adama and Deulofeu for example deserved the hype and were immensely talented, but lacked the decision making to make it. And in the case of Deulo, struggled with the pressure like Bojan before him. Alena was a big talent at youth level but also had two huge red flags that the club probably hoped he would overcome. His erratic first touch and his one foot dependance. A bit like Guille now who is immensely talented but lacks the consistent first touch and decision making.

As you pointed out though, the Lamine generation has already bared fruition and everything else now is a bonus.

Future is beyond bright. Ebrima and Mba are going to fun to watch with Lamine. Young Keita behind Mba is one hell of a winger.

Goren is looking like a gem the whole list are all great players. Full credit to the academy.

SPORT says that Chelsea and United are willing to meet Juan Hernandez 5m BO clause this summer.

He's a player I really liked, who kind of got lost in the shuffle, but has re-emerged of late.

Difficult to make it here (difficult to make it at those other two for different reasons mind), but wouldnt be surprised if he went elsewhere and become a good player, ala Olmo.

I'd love if he stuck around, he's a very classical Barcelona type of player who you would think could combine well in the first team.

He had pre-season last year but didn't make the second phase. So seems at that point that Flick preferred Guille (fairs) and fookin' Darvich (not fairs).

Juan is one of my favourite players in the academy, but also one of those I didn't believe he has the best chance of making it here.

His best attribute is versatility as he can play in midfield or the winger, something that the club appreciate.

I can understand him leaving, absolutely. But not to those sides tbh.
