Emiliano Martínez 'Dibu'

Making new errors every week in club Football but yeah let's talk about international trophies.

He made huge blunders in the 2 biggest games of Villa's season: Second leg against PSG and Today against United for CL places. @fergus90

International trophies won't change that he cost Villa CL football next season. Ask Villa fans.
Not saying he didn't make an error, because he definitely did, but one mistake in the final game isn't what cost them. It's a team effort and it was not picking up another few points across 38 games that cost them. He is to blame for that but so are the rest of his team-mates and Emery. It's a collective thing.

If it wasn't for the clown ref we might be talking about how they got away with the error too (Villa deserved to lose but that officiating error for the Bayindir mistake at 0-0 was horrendous).

Btw, I tend to agree with you (and Don who i seen say it first) that he definitely plays better for Argentina than Villa, because of pride for his country and all that.

You should ask Villa fans yourself as a lot of fans are blaming it more on Cash's incredibly weak pass.

Really dumb from Dibu to make that mistake, but I'm sure he wouldn't have expected a weak pass like that at this level. Still doesn't change the fact that he's still one of the best GKs in the world, no doubt about that.

Ref robbed the match anyways.

I know it sounds ridiculous and funny at this point as it keeps getting repeated but...

Man Utd might be on to something. They have made some solid signings, intersed in some good players (and they have a lot of money), they are getting rid of absolute clowns like Garnacho, Rashford, Onana and they have a manager who does know a thing or two

On top of that, and that is the biggest thing here, they don't play Europe next season. Only PL to focus on

Not that I'm rooting for their comeback in PL next season... I'm not their biggest hater but certainly I don't like them either. But they might do something.

It largely depends on the competition. Whether Wirtz works out for Pool, whether Man City comes back, Arsenal explodes... maany things at play. We will see how it unfolds, if competition is weak maybe Utd can sneak in

The effect of this only league advantage is often underrated. It means a lot. Other teams have no time to reflect on their issues, to try to improve. United plays once a week. A lot of rest and a lot of time to go through it all.

Before this season in Serie A nobody had Napoli, who finished 10th, winning the league. Rightfully so. Inzaghi's Inter was there, a very talented manager Motta joined Juve and the idea was they would explode, Milanistas were hyped with Fonseca, Roma made some very interesting signings and Napoli... well they signed McTominay lol

Doesn't sound ridiculous to me, they are making smart moves going for proven PL players attainable without CL football. I don't see them getting anywhere near Pool, City or Arsenal but vs Chelsea and Newcastle they have a chance for top 4 and like you said, without midweek games they can fully focus on that.

Yeah it's not even that strange to expect some competition from them next season considering how much they spend and also the size of the club but with them finishing 15th it looks a little unrealistic at first

For Dibu he should definitely join. Get money. Standards are very low now. Make a few saves and they will make you a God. And also they suffered Onana for some time now a decent GK will absolutely shock them (like with us and Szczesny)

It's United. they will fuck it up. We hear it every season about them. I also don't think having fewer games will be the benefit you think it will because even when they had time off this season they struggled. They are simply coached awfully and a few extra days on the training pitch won't help that.

Also, they're planning on using Fernandes as a midfield two next season, meaning they'll lose the mf battle a lot. Their other options are Ugarte (awful), Casemiro (finished) and a drastically overrated and unathletic Mainoo. Even if they sign strikers and Martinez, their defence and mf is just horrendous. I agree Cunha and Mbeumo are clever moves, though.
