Don't think Barca will have any interest in him unfortunately due to MATs' PR status and friends with the Spanish media.

My guess is that he might go to Bayern. Man Utd also showed interest in him but ETH chose Onana. It's anyone's guess right now.

Not consistent enough week in week out. Ask the Villa fans who watched him regularly.

Not Barca level. More of a 4th-6th clubs in a top 4 league goalie.

Still a huge upgrade over current MATS.

Last 18 months his club performances have continuously trended downwards to the point where's had a poor season. Prior to that he was wonderful for 3.5 seasons. I'll miss the personality more than the goalkeeper currently. Would've been gutted to lose him in 2023.

He might need a move to recapture that form as he's only approaching 33 in September which is still fairly young for a GK.

I've always got the impression though that Emery was never truly having him for some reason. Think his antics wind him up.

He has flaws but we all know we would be playing CL finals if he was our keeper. And we would win it.

So what? With all due respect for Villa, he will be far more motivated at a team that can actually fight for the biggest titles in club football.

It is hard to be at your best knowing that it makes little to no difference in winning titles.
