They normally wait several editions before expanding their tournaments (World Cup previous expansion was 1998). They wanna expand this after one go of the current expansion. I understand why financially, but still.

They're out of control. Where will it end? FIFA and UEFA tournaments are like inflation - things just keep going up and up and quality seems to get worse.

Surely a 64 country World Cup is the absolute upper limit for that tournament, and even then it's double what it should be. But more than that will likely come to fruition within 50 years, maybe sooner.

Admittedly though there are a lot more clubs than countries. But still.

64 world cup isn't a world cup. It's a lottery.

To qualify for the world cup used to mean something. Now it's guaranteed for most of the top teams. That makes qualifiers worthless.
Like I said to soul earlier, CONMEBOL plays a 90 game programme (18 games per team) to eliminate 3 of 10 teams. Seems overkill from the sporting POV. He made good counter points, but still.

Yeah, all big teams bar Liverpool play it so it's equal ground regarding fatigue next season, plus we get more money.

If we win CL next season it will be big W, but I don't really think this extra vacation will be the decisive factor to win.

In terms of missing football during the summer I'd wish Barca would play Club World Cup but on other hand players health and fitness is more important so I'm glad Barca ain't playin

Competition wise, it’s as useless as the League of Nations - money grab by FIFA, UEFA in this case

Sporting wise, no logic to it when there was already a CWC with continental champions - inviting everyone devalues the invidividual competitions. Moreover attempting to manufacture rivalries, particularly abroad is illogical and certainly not sustainable

From a Barça perspective, there’s money to be gained in revenue as part of this UEFA money grab but the burden on players who are already far too stretched with competitions is the single most fundamental aspect to it

So no, I do not wish Barça to ever play in it…this won’t happen of course, especially if a legitimate revenue stream is borne out of this - irrespective of diluting the game and putting the players at risk

Regarding Barça participating:

Flick is yet to show that he is capable of rotating wisely, and we don't have a deep squad in any case.
Especially for long-term the sake of our young players, I voted no.

Regarding the CWC in general:

Players and fans need a mental reset between seasons. Non-stop football is boring, as other members have already mentioned.
I would cancel the Nations League and CWC without a second thought.

It's been pretty wank so far.

I don't think I will watch much more of it. I am not bothered about tonight's games. I might watch more in the knockout phase.

it's a blatant cash grab and as FCBarca says, as utterly meaningless as the Nations League.

xavi "fans" are winning this poll lol.

19 votes, it's funny how little engagement and usernamers a English speaking forum dedicated to one of the top 5 sporting institutions in the gets.

it's called Barcaforum too so you'll come across it pretty quickly if you search on Google for anything chat and Barca related.

I wonder why, well I don't really wonder why, I know why, but still pretty funny.
