David Villa

Truth
Villa-Messi-Eto'o was the dream attack. Shame we didn't buy him instead of Ibra and kept Eto'o in the summer of 2009. History would have been different.
Laporta tried to sign Villa earlier, Los Che were not making it easy

Impulse move to get Ibra at the time since Villa option was not happening, didn’t work out well for anyone really

Cruyff was the main one who pushed for Ibra.

The amount of money wasted to go from Etoo to Villa was unreal then political games for Laporta to sign Villa just before left and put him on contract that increases as declined in his 30s.

All just for the good of the club of course...

In the end we paid Villas release clause a year to late. So there was no point in negotiating with Valencia.

True but as has been the case at Barça, we often got strikers far too late in their careers

If you recall, there was a lot of push to move Eto’O out in ‘08 when Laporta, Txiki & Pep cleaned house - Samu’s quality was never in question, rather his ego

Strikers are a particular breed of footballer it has to be said too, at one end of the nutter spectrum are clowns like CR and mixed in are biters, drunks, drug addicts and unprofessional behavior that see them invariably implode

Villa, what a player he was in his prime - we got him late though, could say same for Luisito even though we got far more success with him anyway
