"It's the worst idea ever seen in football. It's a pointless competition. Whoever wins the tournament will be the worst winner of all time because they'll have to play all summer and then the league will start again."

Thanks Xavi

Some random also said this in 1930 or so about the World Cup.

The South American passion Vs European player quality dynamic has been fascinating so far. Add to the fact that there is no real over saturation as most games are not worth watching and there is no other football available right now, I think the tourni has been a relative success so far.

If they keep it every 4 years, could definitely see this growing in the future. Couple of cracking games lined up tomorrow. Who doesn't want to see Messi serve PissG some sweet revenge?? Or see if Flamengo's vociferous fans can push them over the edge against the mighty Bayern ?

I will be watching.

If they allow to sub around 7 players a match, and there is no requirement of playing your 1st team.
And maybe shift it 2-3 weeks later, start it around the July time frame.

Then I will 100% be up for this tournament.

Nice words from Klopp, I agree

I am proud to say that I haven't watched a minute of this shit just like I never watched a full game of Nations league. Against modern football, fuck this shit...

Empty stadiums and poor viewership has characterize this tournament so far in the US.

It really is a joke I don't agree with it, but from a marketing prospective it was so poorly promoted, largely because it was rushed.

While we have fuller stadiums when teams go on summer tour.

Just click to the Chelsea vs benfica game, the stadium is at least 60% empty.

Wouldn't be surprised if that's what happens

When we play summer friendlies the stadiums are full before a ball is kicked.

Americans are known for showing up early to stadiums, tail gating and all that stuff.

The interest simply isn't there

If they increase the ticket price, but drop the prices of coca-cola and hotdogs at the concession stands to like a dollar, the games would be full.

Benfica traveled all this way, play games in the burning sun, to win a grand total of 6 million dollars about 5 million after US taxes.

I'll say it before and I'll say it again.

Thanks Xavi, 5D chess.

Luckily the games at Dallas, Atlanta, Los Angeles next year will be at stadiums with a roof or domes where the scorching heat shouldn't be an issue.

Too bad for the European team that would have to play in Miami though.

Yea true, was thinking the same, I wonder if there is any games in Vegas, would also be a good sport to avoid the heat.

I get the logistics of giving the final to MetLife, but a mid day final in NY summer, will be rough

Should have been played in sofi or at Dallas
