Clément Lenglet

I wonder if we paid him the €6 million he was supposed to receive in the 2027-28 season according to the terms of the contract that was extended in the summer?

I think we agreed on this:

AM does not pay us any amount, but compensates Lenglet for these €6 million.

Excellent. In the best case, we saved €32 million, in the worst case €26 million.

What is he waiving? This is ridiculous. He is being let go for free to sign for another club. Club that he signs is supposed to pay him. They are framing it as if he's done us a favour or we made a good deal. It's pathetic.

He was a starter for one of the better clubs in the world. We are letting him go for nothing. He is supposed to be thanking Barca and Atletico as well.

Deco is on notice.

Juve paid Tek while he is playing for us, Real paid Hazard while he is retired.
Let's not act like this is unheard off.
Contracts are responsibility of the club that signed it, and if it goes south compromises happens, everywhere.

Only of we owed him money for previous season(s). Otherwise we are technically saving nothing. We are losing money as we are letting a solid player for free instead making money on transfer.
We owe him at least 6 million euros for this season.

His salary was 12 million euros.

He extended his contract in the summer until 2030 with the condition that he would receive 6 million euros this season and next. And in the 2027-2028 (or 2026-2027) season, we had to compensate him for these 6 + 6 million, which he lost in the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 seasons.

I don't think we paid him anything. Probably AM said - okay, we'll compensate him for these 6 million euros within the framework of his contract with AM, but we won't pay you a cent.
Anyway, let's wait for the details.

If we didn't pay him anything, it's a very good deal.

Gotta look at it in terms of fee plus wageg. With high wages, getting a player off the books can be more impactful than any alternative. Barca's been trapped with those high contracts.

Seems to be a great deal for us, but taking it with a pinch of salt.

𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆: Clement Lenglet will join Atlético Madrid on a 3-year contract — it's all done. His Barcelona contract will be terminated.

Barça have paid part of his remaining salary, while Lenglet has forgone the rest. His departure will help improve the club’s FFP. [@MatteMoretto

These sources write that some amount was paid.

Most likely we are talking about the 6 million euros that he lost this season.

Not how FFP works, even in the bizarro Liga world

We save 16+16m apparently
Between his salary and that of Ansu, big earners are off the books - should Frenkie renew with more reasonable wage that’s a 3rd with Ze German the 4th. Massive change in salary cap room

From there, all the contracts/wages are with Deco & Laporta

Not if we are paying everybodys future wages to leave.

He waved his deferred wages or at least some of it, that much is clear from the reporting.

Now we can get into a conversation about wether those deferred wages were actually owed but that's a totally different conversation.

For example under the same situation as us, Papa Perez didn't defer wages, he simply told the players to take a pay cut, due to revenues being down because of Covid.

While Retard Barto basically gave the players an IOU.

What laporta has been trying to do, is tell the players hey it's wasn't an IOU, it was more what Papa Perez did, a straight up cut in your pay due to a down turn in revenues.

Nobody will pay him 16m/y with a fee. The only reason Atletico was ready to give him this or close to salary is because Barca agreed to no fee. So either we continue to loan him out and pay half his salary, or we get rid of him and his salary entirely. I pick option 2.
Also we free up 16m ffp with this, which is more, than Garcia will cost the club per year.
The last two players on Bartomeu wages are now MAtS and Frenkie. First will most likely leave this summer, second will renew. If the club also managed to pay out the our amigos this summer, as was the plan, then we're finally clear of Bartomeu's contracts.

I was stunned to see this cat still start for France in the NL semi final lol.

Putting this guy in a ridiculously massive contract had to be one of the stupidest decisions ever lol.
