1) Scoring from a cross or outside of the box isn’t an aberration from the strategy. It’s aligned to it. The more control you have the more opportunities you will have to threaten the opponents goal. Whether that is from a cross or a shot from outside the box.

2) it’s fine if you prefer us going to score more goals instead of passing it around. You are just going to end up with more games like Inter, Benfica Dortmund where you are conceding a significant amount of goals and also scoring.

Look at the Inter tie. Barca scored 6 goals and still went out. If Barca tried to ‘control’ the game a little more after Raphinha’s goal instead of pushing for more goals, then maybe we would have been in the final.
I'm sure neither of us are fanatic about our positions mate. I don't want us to abandon all sense. I would like to see us swing a little in the direction of the balance we struck last season, compared to this season so far. I think we played our best games last season attacking more directly than we do now.

Of course Yamal being away has been a part of the difference too, him usually functioning as the crux of our creativity-on-the-move kind of style.

It is nonsense.

Same person thought Casado was ok vs Oviedo etc...

It is all about not thinking Pedri is good enough as claimed that long ago and takes any opportunity to try and be negative.

Pedri and Frenkie pass ball forward all the time.

Ask again... what team has a midfield that plays in better way?

Wont be answered.
Keeping a file on me, are we

Not at all.

Can remember you for long enough time going on and on about how ineffective Pedri is and over rated by majority of us.

Not much clue what watching and either still dont or angry were wrong.

Pedri and FDJ are by far Barcas two best midfielders at progressing the ball and from play it forward a lot.

The fact you said Casado was ok v Oviedo and Pedri doesnt pass ball forward enough...

I remember arguing years ago that people were overrating what Pedri was contributing on the pitch, yes. I've never said he was anything less than extraordinarily talented. I didn't think his attributes were right for the attacking midfield position and I complained about him disappearing out of games when the intensity was on. I wanted him to get more involved in the game, take more chances.

I think he has improved on all those counts and I commend him for it. I think he's our second best player probably. Do with that what you want.

You rembering this and attributing all my opinions to it two years later as some sort of villain story is hilarious tho mate.

Nah you still bitch about Pedri and say nothing positive.

Just checked.

This is more of same.

Pedri and Frenkie pass ball forward a lot. You are spouting utter garbage.

Im oot.

I didn't say they don't pass the ball forward.

I said with them as conductors we've been shying away from quick transitions, preferring controlled build-ups more.

Bit more nuance to it than you are allowing me, I shall say.

Just for the record these are my three last posts in the Pedri thread. Three positives and zero negatives against the player, one negative about other people over-praising him (a pet peeve that I voice about other players too.)

Don't you think you might be making more of this than is really there?

Great game. How is he still the one making runs to get us out trouble at 80+ minutes?

He has had a great season, but he still gets a bit too much credit for superficial things. People loved him against Dortmund for giving us control of the game. He did improve the calma factor, but he also came on minutes after the own goal, which had clearly taken the steam out of Dortmund...

Turning into a real man with these performances. Was a bit uneasy for his hamstrings when he was really digging into it in the final stretch of the game. My gut tells me he's in the danger zone for the weekend game.

Not to drag this embarrassing dispute any further, but when you're having your motives questioned through personal attacks, I think you have the right to present evidence to the contrary.

Unfortunately will miss this one. Some shitty streaming service bought the exclusive right to pick a CL game on Wednesday in my country and of course they did choose the Barça game.

25€/month for a 1 year subscription is too much for what they offer.
