It's not really regardless of their personnel. They still have many world class or very good players.
I didn't mean they don't have plenty of good players. I just meant whether they are as strong as they were under Zidane and Ancelotti, or comparatively weaker as now (and definitely weaker than Bayern on paper in my opinion), it doesn't matter in terms of their affinity with the tournament.

A few years ago they had Joselu scoring big goals for them, lol. What I meant is that they have good players, but even some of their lesser or fringe players seem to turn into world beaters at times in the CL.

My comment wasn't intended to be read as a dismissal of their current personnel, but was saying 'regardless of who plays for them it doesn't seem to matter, even if not at full strength'. I should have phrased it more clearly - apologies.

If Madrid goes through, I see them also beating Bayern. Not because they are better obviously, but Bayern will have the mental disadvantage.

But I also feel that city can come back.

In order to get past Bayern, as it looks atm, they would need to bring back into refereeing Viktor Kassai to make another monumental robbery for Madrid as he did back in 2017 on Santiago Bernabeu.
