has there been a poll made about this topic involving all the best free kick takers of all time? i think that would be quiet interesting, including players like beckham, r.carlos (not sure if hes great i just saw one free kick from france that bedazzled me) and other FK takers

immaculately conceived
my vote goes to CR7 even i don't really like to admit that
Not really. He will score spectacular free kicks but his ratio shots/goals is ridiculously low. I bet it goes around 10%. (well, I know it does from his United days but I just pretend I don't just so I can later slay all the CR boys with some good stats) The amount of shots he blasts wide or into the wall are uncountable. Seems to be his game in every department afer all, uncountable tries will eventually have some results. A high profile Dani Alves or Alex so to say. Or a full grown Sneijder.

We're a bit in a shit period for those REAL free kick takers. You know, the ones that put down the ball and take four steps back, they look at the ball and one part of the stadium goes silent thinking "fuck this, it's going in" while the other part of the stadium starts roaring "HAHA YES, IT'S GOING IIIIIIIN!!!". Even the opponent's keeper knows the exact coordinates where the ball is going ... but still misses it.
No, those players a la Beckham, Ronaldinho, Del Piero, Juninho ... aren't here anymore. Maybe Messi thinks he is, but he isn't.

I think the last "real" one in Spain was Guti for me. Maybe not as rampant as those mentioned above but he certainly had the talent ... only to not use it like all his other skills. Xavi (although I think he isn't good at it) and Senna can pull it off once in a while but not really worth mentioning.

Drogba looks fairly dangerous to me but isn't that classic either, though certainly among the most dangerous ones next to the likes of CR.

So: there are still specialists around but they aren't the ones they used to be anymore, mostly due to age I think. Others can score beautiful free kicks but they have to be in the zone to make them so they aren't really specialists. I probably forget a lot of them but given I can't name one instantly (like the Beckham) just says enough.

Beckham? You gotta be joking to the fullest dude. Juninho will kick his ass blindfoded

Didier Drogba from that list, no way is C Ronaldo the best, half of his free kicks dont get past the wall or go way over and wide, most of Drogba's freekick even if they dont go in force the keeper into a good save

Improvin' Perfection!!
Juninho & Ronnie... my all time ones(because of my limited knowledge of course)

My current one would be Robin van Persie... It's a pity his name is not included in there when the likes of Fabregas and Xavi are!!

i would like a physicist to describe that.. it goes one way then another then almost back but the last angle shows the flight of the ball is almost motionless.

Yusuf Islam
all the FK takers now are pretty average, junninho no doubt is the best of the last era with dinho and pirlo

Juninho and Rivaldo used to be my favorite
Now there isn't one that stands out in my opinion
