Ben was an all NBA team and 3 times All-star and one of the best defenders in the league, probably the best guy to ever guard Luka just by himself. He was scoring 15-17 ppg while having 7+ assists while being elite defender, 4 playoffs appearances including 2 EC semifinals.
Zion is 2 times All-Star and zero All NBA team. No career playoffs appearances. So far Zion still has inferior career to Ben. He was just better scorer.
Ben got injured a lot, and stopped caring about the game afterwards, just dating celebrities and enjoying life. Zion stopped caring, getting injured a lot and is only interested in dating pornstars.

Some of these guys just aren't even of average intelligence, but won in the game of financial freedom.
Unrelated sport, but this is like OBJ saying in a recent interview, well I think it was recent, that 100m isn't a lot of money to survive on for the rest of his life and to make it worse, a bunch of NFL guys were sitting there with him nodding a long & agreeing.

Some of the stuff Steve Ballmer does as owner of the Clippers is mind-boggling.
Blake Griffin, the Kawhi saga and now Chris Paul being sent home on his farewell season, reportedly for clashing with coach Tyronn Lue. Seems like premature retirement, Clippers announced they work on planning the next phase of his career. Blake Griffin and Paul definitely deserve their jerseys retired at the arena, but not with Ballmer in charge.

Ben was solid for a couple of seasons, but he went PTSD after the 2021 playoff run and now he's semi-retired. Considering injuries his back and knees are gone. Ben's output declined after each injury. Very similar arc to Sam Bowie's career, who had injury history starting in college.
Zion is a dumb fuck. But every time he makes recovery plays like nothing's happened. Same stats, same power athleticism, plays 20-30 games max and then gets injured again. Ironically it happens once he loses the fat.
For 7 years in NBA Zion's overall is 35% of games played. He doesn't want to play in New Orleans, he wants to move to New York to be part of the Knicks. Maybe the biggest TV market in NBA will motivate his ass, but that's a huge gamble on Knicks side.There's also this rumor that Pelicans are done with New Orleans and are deliberately tanking in the last couple of seasons to land the best of draft picks and alienate the fanbase to relocate to Las Vegas. Which is dumb, because Las Vegas as city is in decline.

Pelicans aren't tanking this year for draft picks, they traded it for Queen from Hawks (last year 13th pick) , and it is unprotected.
There are rumours about them relocating, but it is based on false narrative that the Arena is empty, they are never in the bottom five in attendance. They are just bad franchise.
Zion isn't interested in the Knicks and they aren't interested in him. He plays well because David Griffin has done one good thing: he made Zion contract is not guaranteed. Zion has to play well to get his money, otherwise he will be cut and he will be getting MLE at best.
Ben Simmons had guaranteed contract, as you said he quit after 2021 and just had to be there just to get paid. He was a scammer at the end.
Zion will follow route, unless he grows up. Only thing holding him is that they can cut him if they want without paying him. I bet he wouldn't be putting those numbers if he didn't have that clause
