Basketball/NBA

JJ Reddick created a controversy by blaming social media for low ratings in NBA. Charles Barkley didn't hold back:

To some extent I agree with JJ and I don't think shots were fired directly at ItNBA. It's been more of an entertainment show than serious basketball analysis for ages. Before Shaq the programme was even sillier, having whole comedy segments involving Chuck.

There's the notion social media propagandate how NBA is poor nowadays. Well, it is justified, the game got boring. Social media just amplifies the message. There are whole channels dedicated to dissing LeBron James for instance.

If Jerry West were still around, this move was probably likely to happen but today seems clear its an attempt to boost ratings by bringing the biggest talent in the game to Showtime

NBA hasn’t been a real sporting league for more than 2 decades, it’s contrived Hollywood directed show rather than sport

Mavs new owners are the one who initiated the trade.

And while they are one of the biggest Casino investors out there and love gambling (rumours that the only reason they bought the franchise was as a part of lobbying for gambling in Dallas) I doubt they will do this to the Lakers, whose ownership struggle for money anyway and really not that powerful as people think.

This is just stupid people doing stupid thing, the new owners proving themselves being Bartomeu of the NBA. They think they are the smartest people in the NBA and can buipd around the likes of Kyrie and Davis

One if not the most stupid trade in the history of NBA if all the reports are true. Mavs are going back to being nobody while the Lakers secured their relevance post Lebron.

Hope Lebron leaves soon so the Lakers can get serious to build a championship team around Dončić, I'm sure they will get top free agents once Lebron leaves. Who wouldn't want to play together with Luka in historic Lakers in sunny burning (lol) LA? Too bad Lebron will held them hostage for a few more years, I'm sure he's planning to make a circus around his retirament in the next few years.

Dallas fans are rightfully pissed. This is a stupid trade.

Could be a great move for Luka. We know how pissed Luka plays. He will drop 50 on Mavs during the next game.

This isn't the best move for Luka btw. A guy who has off the court issues (always arrives overweight) and has anger issues, LA is probably the worst for his career. Although, getting away from Mavs ain't that bad.

I think he needed a kick in the arse. Not neccessarily by being betrayed by Dallas, but I think if he channels the anger towards Mavs in the right way (the balkan mentality "I'll show them..."), I think he can raise his level.

Again, extremely dumb move by Mavs.

Nobody asked him, it wasn't his decision. Why do you think LA is the worst for his career? We all know refs are mostly biased pro Lakers so that's ideal for him and even if he gets fat and bad the Lakers care more about selling kits and marketing than results as we see how they put up with Lebron's circus for years even if he doesn't really contribute on the court anymore.

Yeah I think this will be a defining moment in Luka's career. The club that drafted him basically said they don't want him because he's a fat unprofessional. Either he shows everybody they are wrong or they'll be right. It's up to him.

Add to that the fact that Dallas is likely losing Kyrie after the season. I doubt anyone would like to play for Mavs since they have shown how they deal with things under new ownership.

He already showed everybody is wrong calling him fat when he dragged the MAVS to finals last year.
When he dragged a bunch of BUMS to WCf few years back.

He will win few rings with LAKERs no doubt
J ust need to get rid of Bron first
