No way can Barca afford Bastoni. Schlotterbeck and Guehi are realistic options but Schlotter would still cost a decent amount with only 1 year left.

Barca may need to be more creative to find a solution at CB (ie look to lesser names in France/Germany/etc).

No way we have money for Bastoni.

He will be 80+ mil transfer.

Only chance for Schloterback is just one year on his contract so we can get him for like 40mil

He is going to Como apparently.Barca never buys young and cheap players,we will spend more on a 37 year defender probably.
Roony, Pau Victor, Cardoso Varela on his way. Diarra.

Likes of Faye brought us good profit. Darvich was good signing on paper (Germany U17 captain that won WC). And other examples too.

We do these transfers. We have to do them.
Pedri was also young and cheap.

And how many we missed out on? Also many examples

Truth
It isn't the norm that you are getting the young jewels, it is the exception.
Bingo, people are so delusional thinking every young player is the next WC talent in football...especially because they would be coming from La Masia

This is the best model IMHO, there will be misses, disappointments, professionals and absolute gems & generational talents. I wouldn't want it any other way, coupling it to a few skilled WC positional reinforcements from the market that could integrate

absolute gems & generational talents

Which were those at Barca in recent years? Pedri was years ago and was 20 mil so he doesn't really fit this category. We just signed a couple of flops and a couple of players that we got some spare change for them, none of them are in the first team except Roony and he won't be here long. Araujo is the closest to it and that also didn't happen under this board, let alone under Deco. He's not really an absolute gem either.

Those ones takes years to develop anyway. If you are buying U-18 or even U-20 player who cost 2 bag of chips, you are playing the long term one.

We managed profits in Pau & Faye, likely to get future profit from Darvich, while Martin and Roony are in first team.

And that's not counting injury factor, that is disturbing some excellent signing like Diarra.

How many young players who cost anything less than 5M that was signed in the past 3 years, is playing consistently in a CL side at the level of Barca?

...and I don't see any gems or generational talents, best case scenario a couple of them turns out as professionals in midtable teams. And turning a few million is not really a big success for a club with a billion € budget. It's ok but not something to brag about or designing our policies to do this kind of deals.

Do players who join La Masia at young count as gems? They aren't all from Barceloma after all and the first team rely a lot on these players, so scouting needs to be good here.
