If you can't afford 40M players, you can't afford 12M prospects. It is as simple as that regardless the strength of your scouting department.

Being broke affects those chesp signings equally to the expensive ones.

There are no scouting in the world that can guarantee a sure thing, and you can't have two or three players that cost 10M+ with no resale value in hope someone will ve a success, all while being barely able to register a 25M GK.

Deco has been trying for the high end talent since he arrived, it is just not feasible with our limitations.

We still do decent deals, Roony was great one so far, Gerard Martin is worth way more what we paid for, Faye & Pau were sold for far more money than what we bought him.

But at some point, it is unfair to expect every first team need to be covered by a 16-19 years old, whether it is La Masia or signing

Going for players you rate after Tottenham gets them for 12m ain't a good way to tackle the issue. You're only going to pay a hefty premium for very little gain.

It is not really true that you risk losing money on bigger talents and young defenders rated at 10-15m. Only if you are piss poor and sign total bums. The vast majority of defenders we signed at that price point in the last decade or so got sold for decent or in some cases good profits. Defenders like Mina, Digne, Todibo, Emerson Royal, we made 30-35m profit in total on those deals. You make profit in general at that price point, and you also increase the chance to land a top signing for the future.

If you want to strike gold and pay 2-5m for a player and hope you get a starter... good luck at that . Pedri cost 20m btw, not 5. Solid talents are not cheap. Higher price is not a guarantee the player will be a hit, but you will rarely lose money on resale. The quality is at least good enough to move the player to a smaller club and make up your investments if not bank in a bit of profit for your time spent with the player.

Would be nice if we can land him back. He can't defend but don't give a fuck. Who can in this system anyway? We need a good attacking fullback for Yamal and a good backup for Balde, Cancelo is both

because I would rather sign Senesi and not get anyone else in this window, than spend on other guys like Cancelo

Both our fullbacks suck in defense

And most fullbacks would in this system. So in this way he is not any different

He is not here to be starter. He is here to be backup and step in if someone gets injured. Injury to Balde or Kounde and we will have to play amateurs in most important stages of the season like last year

He was signed by Spurs in summer 2023 with less than 600 minutes in first team football at Croatia. You think at the time it is normal for Barca to splash that money on such a CB prospect?

There is a price for being proven, and it changes by how much you have proved yourself. This is just the facts of the market. 12M for a 16 years old CB in Croatia who barely played is insane price.

Mina was 23, and was already a starter and ine of the best defenders in both Brazil and Columbia.

Digne was 23, had played over 100 games in France and over 40 in Italy.

Todibo was starter in French league, was signed for 1M

Emerson was 20 and we had over 30 games in Brazil

Todibo was 19

In what way are those comparable? And mind you the difference in situation. We can't afford the risk atm, the cost isn't only how we lose in sale, but how it affects reinforcement of the first team.


Barca seems to switch attention to new markets, African, Scandinavian and Turkey in particular, aling with Spain too. Those are easier to get cheaper and goid prospects

Cancelo is amazing at attacking.
But the guy suffers the same problem as Araujo. Lack of concentration.

And for a defender in our system, that's the most important aspect.

Ideal universe. We would have lapped up this Senesi guy. Might cost us 20-25m.

Then comes summer. There are a plethora of Free agents to look into.

Hopefully, the 1:1 rule is done with.
Ship out Arujo for 15-20m.
Similar to last summer, some clubs should be in for Fermin. If its upwards of 50m, we should consider selling him.
Lewa leaves. Mats leaves. Christensen leaves.

Rashy - 25m + variables. He has to reduce his salary by 2-3m at least.
LCB - Senesi, either free or 20-25m if we go for him this winter.
RCB - Konate free. Dont think Madrid or other big clubs will be for him because of his performance. We have the option.
LB - Vitaliy Mykolenko or Mingueza. Both free, should be of similar wages.
RB - Vanderson - 20-25m.
CAM - Brandt, free.
ST - Vlahovic free. Dont like this option. Ideally would not have gone for one. But since rumours have popped up, keeping it.

5 players leaving.
6 new players coming in.
Amount of salary being freed + transfer expenditure should be enough to accommodate the new players and FFP should be fine.

Ya I know we Deco is lazy, and we don't move like this. But next summer, the quality of Free agents is very good. And if we don't capitalise on it with our financial situation, it means we will never do well during a transfer window. And we have an election too.
Next summer will be a test for our Board/Deco/Fatporta

Pretty much a 2 week window Deco et al will have to use the salary space that is afforded the club from Andreas’ injury by January 15 (factoring a few days for Liga review/approval). Gotta believe it’ll be a left sided defender since a blockbuster move for a player of Bastoni or Schlotterbeck’s profile wouldn’t be possible until summer, at earliest. A short term but ready to go fix would obviously be the aim

Cancelo would be a good choice until summer.

1. low cost -> club can register him.
2. can play both sides -> gives us the much needed fullback depth
3. knows the club and playstyle -> can help immediately without much integration time

Beggers can't be choosers. The focus will be on defending LaLiga and for this, we need more depth in the defense. Cancelo gives us this. He should still be a good option to face most of LaLiga teams. With 31, he isn't old yet and the only question remains how much he got worse physically playing in the desert. But I assume the club has his data, so if they think he can still compete in LaLiga, go for it.
